What is the pm law In Massachusetts?

My random saliva screen came up positive for heroin metabolite, fentynal and morphine. I was shocked. My doctor said he himself doesn't believe that the test are accurate and said that the labs make these mistakes more frequently than anyone wants to admit. He said MA state law forbids him to prescribe my medication and even went as far as stating he would bet his salary the test results are not accurate. It should also be noted that i somehow was negative for benzos which I take for seizures amd panic disorder 1mg TID.  He hasn't discharged me.  He asked my pcp to cover me for a month then he will write my script again. My pcp will not as its not his specialty. I have spoken to a dea agent that said it's not the law and i also had no contract or anything and it was the first test in 2 months. He refused to retest but wants to keep me just said he needs to put a month or two between the false positive and will then continue to write my rx. But no answer for what I am going to do for the moment. I'm not in withdrawal but I am not functioning. I'm not eating or sleeping and am in so much pain can't shower or care for myself or family. First question is does anyone know for a fact that about the legal part? Second is what do I do? Go to the ER? I can't live like this. It's absurd. I even volunteered to pay for a hair follicle test to prove I am not taking anything other than the prescription he writes. He wasn't even concerned about the fentynal which I am allergic to or morphine...its the heroin metabolite that he states forbids him from prescribing. Please it'd been 2 weeks and i am in unbearable pain.

Anti inflammatories can help keep the inflammation from getting worse. Stuff like icy hot, salon pas pain patches with lidocaine can help too.
I am a bit older than you, but I understand. I am a stickler too when it comes to my pain meds etc and I would be beside myself in your situation.
I forgot what the actual measurement of hair length/time frame is but as long as it covers the time frame, it should work out well.
Hang in there.

It'd been really tough. I have older scripts that would help me now but I refuse to take anything I am not actively prescribed. Ironically I do that to ensure I never have any inconsistent tests. It's been hell. Thank goodness I didn't have to go through the horrible withdrawal I read about...I just am disgusted by the lack of compassion. It's not people like you or me that are the problem with the opioid crisis. It's the loser drug dealers and abusers and doctor shoppers that we get punished for. I can not even take celebrex or Tylenol or advil or anything over the counter because I was in liver failure and recovered but they can't figure out why and it's like the 3rd time in 10 years. Lfts are better. Now my kidney functions are crazy out of range and unfortunately I am allergic to 16 medications including nsaids. This was my last resort. I'm so upset and overwhelmed. Lost now 11 pounds in little over 7 days. It's not right. Especially when my doctor said he knows the results are not correct. But has to cover his ***. Bs. MA law states it it unethical and not advisable to d/c ones medicine based on one screen and if anything they need to taper or find a physician who will immediately. It's all so not right.

That's good that you plan to get it done on Monday. The good news is the follicle test goes back several months depending on your hair length, so you can prove beyond doubt the testing was wrong. Best of luck.

My hair is extremely long. Lol I think I read something about its only really reliable for 90 days because of bleaching and pollutants etc. But I have plenty of unprocessed strands. I told the doctor I will pay for it myself if he won't agree. The only tox screen in my life and I'm 39 that has been not perfect and it's pathetic that my doctor said it happens all the time. I don't even drink alcohol! I'm just in a lot of pain and over someones mistake and therefore putting me behind my treatment schedule etc. It's very upsetting. I don't know how I'm going to make it through the weekend and I am not eating or sleeping. I feel like I'm my petite Fram losing 8.8 pounds in 7 days is not normal. I can't eat or function the pain is so severe. I am such a mess

You can ask your primary to order the hair follicle test and then have the results sent to your primary AND your PM doctor.
The saliva tests do have a higher failure /false positive rate from my research.
The heroin metabolites are a concern, so if I were you, I would get the hair follicle test asap.

Thank you. I plan to get it done Monday morning. I'm in so much pain and he knows the lab messed up but said they will never admit it. I researched drug testing and I was horrified to discover the saliva test has a 25% fail rate and it concerns me that the one medication I am supposed to and have been for years positive, I was not. The doctor said he'd even call his buddy and leave out the lab results and he said he can take over until this blows over. Unbelievable.
