When I was in the ER I didn't feel like I was going to die I wanted to die. That was the worse thing I have ever been through in my life. I mean I have been not addicted to meds but depended on them and would go through with drawls but NOTHING like that and I am scared to death of it happening again. I will NEVER touch morphine again. It wasn't a good idea for me to stop all my meds in one day, I know that now and my dr should of never told me to stop them all at once. My surgern gave me some numbers of some drs they aren't pain drs but they deal with only nerve problems but that is like the dr I am seeing now that has me all screwed up!!!

I'm glad I found this post I've been taking 100 milligram morphine pills extended release For about 6 years And now because of an issue with my insurance they are switching me 200 milligram and better I'm just praying I don't have any of the issues You guys have mentioned above I'm almost thinking about asking him to switch me to Subutex
Hi Jamie,
I am so sorry that you are having these issues. What was your physician thinking by ordering you to go cold turkey with no assistance? And with no preparation?
Have you contacted the physician that took you off everything? If not do so and request something to help you through the w/ds.
Molly is right, it's a tough ride but there is no way to avoid it if you want to be off all narcotics. It is not true a sudden withdrawal from medication is not a life threatening issues. It can be and ppl have died from it.
Any opiate will cause w/d symptoms, not just morphine. Have you posted on the substance abuse forum. They may have better suggestions for you. NO I do not think you are an addict, you are dependant like any of us that require opiates for any length of time. The only reason I suggest the SA Forum is because they have dealt with w/d symptoms and know better how to treat them.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. I will look forward to your updates with interest.
Take Care,
~Tuck
No one has ever died from w/d's, you only feel like it.
You either have to get through the Withdrawls and then find a non-opiate medication or keep using oiates...there is not a huge option out there.
Sorry
