Wisdom teeth pain...

My wisdom tooth is growing on the right bottom of my mouth and it HURTS. My dad's going to take me to the dentist one of these days though to help about it. I've been taking ibuprofen these past 2 days *advil* to just ease the pain, but the swelling really hurts and got my node lymph glands next to my jaw a little swollen because of the wisdom tooth.

Any way to help the pain or make the swelling go down? And how long will this last until my gum is normal again.

I'm sorry you're having the wisdom tooth pain!  There are no doctors on this forum, just people dealing with Chronic Pain,  supporting eachother and answering questions to the best of our knowlege.  
I had a wisdom tooth grow in completely in one quadrant on my mouth.  I had had a tooth out on that side and the wisdom tooth filled in the space.  
It's possible that your tooth may grow in, but in some cases they are impacted and have to be taken out by an oral surgeon.  
You really need to get to a dentist or oral surgeon ASAP.

I am not a doctor, but have worked for Oral Surgeons and am a dental assistant. Is your tooth partially erupted? If so, you may have some food and bacteria trapped under the tissue that is causing a lot of irritation. Ultimately, like JadedSweetheart said, you probably need to have it removed, as it sounds like you don't have room for it. But in the meantime, try so clean out that tissue with some warm salt water rinses. It can sooth the area.

The swelling can be a concern though. The trapped bacteria can lead to an infection, so try not to delay getting to a dentist or oral surgeon to have that out! Good luck!

Also, if you have your other wisdom teeth, you may consider having them all out at once so you don't have to go through this pain again. There are fantastic options for oral sedation these days and you are better off just doing it all once! :)

Oh, I forgot we have our very own Dental Assistant here.  It's best to do what Kitty says as she knows what she is talking about!
I had 3 that needed to come out, all out at once and it was much better that way.  One thing I do recommend is not smoking, if you do, after you get them out.  Dry socket is awful!  The warm salt water rinse is a great thing for the time being as well.  
I hope you are able to get it taken care of soon.  I know the pain of impacted wisdom teeth can be annoying.

I agree with the girls. Especially about cleaning them out if they are partially grown in. I have all four of my wisdom teeth but I was lucky in that they all grew in the right way and I have enough room in my mouth for all of them. But while they were growing in they would get really painful and I couldn't figure out why. I finally found that there was food and whatever else in there that was causing my gums to swell and be really painful. I cleaned it out really good and got some orajel and that helped a lot.

Sorry your having impacted wisdom teeth. I had that too in my teens. It does hurt a lot. I didn't want surgery so my teeth kept going in and out and I would get pain for about a week or two then it would go away for a while and come back. Eventually in my twenties they came out and stayed out. I had two removed and I still have the other two years later. So, you can get them all removed and you will have pain for a week or two after and your face near the jaw line will really swell up sort of like mumps. But then you will be done with it. Also, though if they do come out like mine did you have extra teeth to keep when you are old. There is no guarantee either way. Oh also, if the dentist says you don't have enough room for the teeth they will have to go. Tylenol and Ibupropin are the two best for you. Be careful with Ibupropin it will cause stomach problems. Make sure you eat well with it.

I wanted to add also that in my office my doctor recommends that patients take Tylenol and Ibupropen together for maximum OTC pain relief. They work differently so can be taken together if you can take them.
