Hi farhan,

First I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad you found this Forum. I want to let you know that there are NO Doctors on this Forum only CP - Chronic Pain - Patients that help each other with our OWN expertise and experiences that we have developed through our OWN CP Issues.

As you can tell from flower's post, she knows me VERY well! :)  Also, as I said above we ARE NOT Doctors and CAN NOT give out any medical advice.

Now, that said, I'm SO very sorry that you are having to go through this unbearable pain that you are experiencing.

You are EXACTLY on the right track in going to England and getting a second opinion.  I'm not sure which are the better surgeons BUT I'm sure that you would know the answer to that as to who you would trust.  Those two options  will more than likely be the ONLY options that you will have.  You will have to decide between the surgery OR living on Pain Medication for the rest of your life.  I have a feeling that sooner or later you WILL have to have surgery as I can't imagine you being able to go your entire life with the pain you are experiencing from your back.  After all you are ONLY 18 years old and I KNOW that you must be terrified with what lies ahead of you.  :{

The MOST important thing that you must do is to find a Doctor that YOU TRUST!!  If this means that you must see 20 Doctors to find the ONE that YOU TRUST, then DO that!!  You will know him/her WHEN you meet them as you will find that you have COMPLETE CONFIDENCE in him/her.  Your gut feeling will tell you that you have FINALLY found YOUR Doctor.  :)  Then listen to him/her and WITH their guidance you will be able to reach your decision and you will feel confidant about it!!

PLEASE keep us informed on your search and what your decision is.

We will look forward to your updates as we are VERY concerned about you and what happens.

Best of luck to you and as I said - keep us posted.............Mama Sherry

Welcome to the forum. As Mama Sherry says, we are not doctors here. We are chronic pain patients and we try to help each other.

No one can tell you what decision to make, but we can help you think it out. I had difficulty understanding your post. Do you live in the United States? I'm asking that because health care is different in different countries.

What is your diagnosis and what type of surgery do your doctors recommend? Sometimes surgery can really help people with back pain, and other times it doesn't help or makes it worse. There are members who have had back surgery here, but I am not one of them.

Can you tell us more about your situation?
