can anyone refer me to a pain doctor ?

being hiv+ for over 20 years due to finance infecting me sexually and then beating me-he died in 95 yet i had 2 car accidents and slip and fall at pt time job. was being treated by wonderful compassionate pain doctor yet just like that i was told she left and now i need to rush and im stressed at what i read about the abusers, the people who take pills just to get high.

i don't know where to start or who to call because as i read i DO NOT want to be considered a doctor shopper. YET who is one of the good doctors that will do blood work or urine testing to weed out the good from the bad? I made appt w/ family doctor but i pray he will be understanding and compassionate to help me until i can find a good pain doctor but i was hoping someone here could give me a good referal can anyone?

Is there someone in the same office that your previous pain doctor worked in that maybe can give you some names of other doctors?  You may also be able to call your local hospital and see if they have a doctor referral service - many of them do and there is no charge for this service.

Quite often you need to be referred to a pain managmenet doctor through your primary physician also, so you may consider checking with your primary doctor so see if they have any suggestions for a new pain doc.
