from lortabs to percocets.

im a long term cp patient I have advanced ms and addisond disease and degenerative disk disease. they locked the lortabs 2-/325s up last week at the clinic in case the percocets don't work out. im having withdrawal symtoms from the lortabs like ive never had beforelike byrning when I pee or have a bm. ive done been through the shakes and goose pimples.i had to quit taking the percs too because of the withdrawl symtoms from the hydros. any advice would be appreciated the percs are 7.5s 4 times a day. I was cutting them in half till I got used to them. I only weigh 105 lbs.

Your doctor knows best.  I personally wouldn't of stopped the percs through the withdrawal.  It was normal for me to withdrawal from each med after stopping it.  Once you start taking the bigger meds like OxyContin, MS Contin, and especially fentanyl, the withdrawals are horrendous/pure agony.  The nice thing is that the withdrawals don't last forever.

There's nothing more to do then wait it out.  Try to keep busy and take lots of Epsom salt baths along with drinking a lot of water.  Good luck.

I'm a big fan of hydromorphone for chronic pain.  it's much stronger so you need less but in terms of side effects it has much less than others.  Percs are about the worst unless you are looking to get 'high'.  The hydromorphone, for me, took away the pain but didn't impact my ability to think and work.  They just took away the pain and didn't mess with my head.
