Geminigirl has great advice. Laying down in a quite, dark room usually helps me with my headaches. Can you take something over the counter that has caffeine in it? Or, drink some tea with caffeine? Sometimes, aspirin helps me with my headaches.

It sounds like it could be a migraine. Try laying down in a quiet, darkened room and see if it helps. Sometimes with my migraines, an ice pack on the back of my neck will also help.
