Lodine is in a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Lodine works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.
Lodine is used to relieve the inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain of osteoarthritis (the most common form of arthritis) and rheumatoid arthritis. It is also used to relieve pain in other situations.
No lodine is an anti-inflammatory drug so it is not an opiate.
