intense heel pain

i have a burning, shooting pain that feels almost electrical in my left heel. when it happens, it is really intense but then it goes away after a few minutes. it comes and goes like that, particularly after a long walk or after tennis. i am very active and try to get exercise every day of the week. i went to a podiatrist and he said it was achille's tendonitis and to rest it for a few weeks. i did and it continues to happen. is there any other possible reason for why?
thanks. LC

Good day to you! Have you thought of plantar faciitis? Being a waitress, I have tried everything under the sun to find a remedy for my p.f.! The only way of preventing future injury is to always wear wedges heels, or put heel inserts to continually keep your heels elevated so not to hyperextend the tendon that is attached to the heel bone. My tendon has already began to tear away from the bone so I keep vigilant watch over it! But since always wearing the elevated heel wedges in ALL my shoes, I haven't had a flare up in 3years... So good luck to you, and hopefully this helps a bit!
