migraine

I get migraines usually on every 3 years or so..usually when I miss refilling a blood pressure med. But this head pain not migraine. Is on the left-side head and goes from behind the left eye to the back of my head and down my neck which is a little stiff. I've taken immetrex and it always worked before (doesnt now) but I took 100mg dose the dr this time gave me 50mg. should I take 2 pills? and I take Vicodin for another injury and this doesnt work for the pain either..now what can I do? or take? -rhon sixty four

I hope you'll find a good Neurologist and return to your PCP. Your condition needs to be investigated. I don't know what you've had in the past... but if you've had no recent testing it's time.

Have you posted in our Headache/Migraine, Neurology and the TMJ Forums. Keep searching. It can't hurt.

Please keep in touch.

I suffer from migraines but also tmj and I find that my Sternocleidomastoid seems to be the culprit.  Read this link and see if this describes what you are feeling - the side of my head is sore to the touch.  Link:  http://www.dynamicchiropractic.com/mpacms/dc/article.php?id=44247

I haven't found the solution or right treatment yet but I know it's a double whammy when it hits with migraines.  I used to take Immitrex but it stopped working.  Maxalt seems to work good for me as to headaches and vicodin does not work for migraines so don't bother.

Work with your neuro trying different meds to get a handle on it and check out the definition of SCM to see if that describes your pain.

chronic pain is no fun.  Hope you find some relief.

Hello and Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post.

I am never comfortable suggesting what meds a person should or shouldn't take. This should be a decision made by your Physician or your Pharmacist. Often we over look the expertise of our Pharmacists. They are the true experts in medications, their actions and interactions. I encourage you to contact him/her.

I'd also get the pain evaluated by a medical professional. If this pain is new it needs to be investigated. If it becomes extreme don't hesitate to make a trip to ER or call EMS.

Please keep in touch. I'll look forward to your updates.

Best of Luck to You.
