new pain management clinic in central fl

Not really a question here just some information. I went to a new pain management clinic in Lakeland FL on Wed. I had been going to a pain clinic in Tampa. The wait in Tampa was always 3-4 hrs. The staff was rude and the clinic required you to get your prescriptions filled at their pharmacy at really high prices. This place in Lakeland the staff was very friendly, the doctor was knowledgeable and wanted to help me. The opposite of what I have exp. at other clinics. I took a copy of my recent labs and my MRI and the first visit was 125. The Tampa clinic charged 250. for the first visit. Each follow up in Lakeland is 75. Tampa it was 150. I thought it was amazing that I payed less and the service was 300 times better. Just thought I would share this with others who suffer from pain and are looking for relief.

I too am glad you found someone who will treat you fairly financially and treat your pain better. I know there are different approaches that each PM Dr takes but the most important thing a Dr should offer his Pt's in my opinion is options. We sometimes have no idea what is available to us and thats what the PM Dr's are for to let us know what options we have and treat our pain in a way that is right for us personally instead of taking a group approach and treating everyone in the same way. Medications are only one small step in pain management there are many other things that can be used with it to help lessen our pain making us closer to the way we were before the pain. Quality of life is a big issue with health concerns and especially with pain management because we have to do what we can to try and be the person we were before the pain.

Thank you for sharing that information. I plan on relocating to Florida in the next year and will be "looking." I am sorry you had a bad experience but glad that you have found a clinic that meets your needs. It is strange that there is such a price difference.
