pain after thoracotomy

I had my left lung removed in Oct. 2013. I have had chronic pain ever sense.  The pain goes around my rib cage front to back.  I am on oxycodone and  cabapentin and have a pain pump with little relief. Does anyone know if there is anything surgical that can be done to relieve the pain? I need my life back---please any help is appreciated!!!!

I believe the gabphentin is supposed to help with ghost pain do to amputation. However everyone is different when it comes to how your body accepts and reacts to the medicine. I would tell your doctor about it and see what he might suggest? Best wishes!

One avenue would be to look into what is known as "post amputation" pain. I would check this out: http://www.amputee-coalition.org/inmotion/mar_apr_98/pain_mgt/page1.html

And, then followup with the homepage: http://www.amputee-coalition.org

If anyone on this forum knows, please post the "type" of physician that would treat this, I cannot recall the name of the specialty for treating this.
