Hi Again Joy,

Just another thought or actually a question.  Celebrex, proxen and joflam I beleive are all antiinflammatories. Celebrex is a very potent one in fact. You weren't taking these at the same time were you?  All of these can be very hard on your stomach lining and can increase gastrointestinal pain.

You said you were sure it was not heart burn and indeed it may not be. But as Mollyrae suggested it could be, or at least be part of your problem. You may want to consider an evaluation by a gastroenterologist as well as an Internal Medicine Physician.

Again good luck to you, Tuck

Hello Joy:

Welcome to the Pain Forum. Tuck offered some good advise and I will add to that. What comes to mind when reading your post is Indigestion.
Sometimes the term indigestion is used to describe the symptom of heartburn, but these are two different conditions. Heartburn is a painful, burning feeling in the chest that radiates toward the neck or back. Heartburn is caused by stomach acid rising into the esophagus and may be a symptom of GERD. A person can have symptoms of both indigestion and heartburn. How is your diet? With your type of pain, I would suppliment your diet with an antacid like Prilosec and see if that doesn't help. Take care and good luck,
Mollyrae

Hi Joy,

I am so sorry to hear about your undiagnosed chest pain. Our members know how frustrating it can be to go without a diagnosis and how pain effects our daily life. I am glad you found us at the Pain Management Form of MedHelp.

One condition that comes to mind is Costochondritis. It is a condition that causes chest pain due to inflammation of the cartilage and bones in the chest wall. Costochondritis occurs when there is inflammation at the junction of the rib bone and breastbone (sternum). At this junction, there is cartilage joining these bones. This cartilage can become irritated and inflamed. Depending on the extent of the inflammation, costochondritis can be quite painful.

There are other inflammatory processes that could cause your pain also. Have you had a CT with contrast or a MRI? If not I would recommend you request further diagnostic tests in an attempt to uncover the reason for your pain. If your PCP is unwilling to investigate your pain it may be time to seek out another PCP. Remember that they do work for us. I suggest you have a long talk with your PCP and tell him/her your concerns and reiterate your pain.

Best of luck to you. Please let us know how you are doing. I will be interested in hearing from you again on your progress. Take care, Tuck
