Thanks for the update. It sounds like you have a good Physician that is covering all the bases.
I am glad you are improving. I'll look forward to hearing from you again.

I saw the neurologist today. He's thinking that there was some nerve compression when the breathing tube was inserted in my throat. He still wants another MRI with contrast just to completely rule out a stroke.I feel my speech is improving and swallowing as well so I think in time everything will be manageable. Thanks for your help.

Thankyou for your comment Tuck.Yes it was a brain scan,Im going to see a neurologist on the 28th .We'll see what he says. Thanks again.
Hi Nick,
Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. No I have not heard of the symptoms you describe as being "normal" following a shoulder/bicep repair. With any surgeries there are risks.
It does sound like you have had the right tests to determine the cause of the tongue numbness. When you say MRI does that mean a Brain MRI and was it with Contrast?
If I were in your situation I would seek a second opinion, with a good Neurologist. I would find one associated with a large teaching hospital or one of our nationally know Clinics. Obviously it is not normal for your tongue to be numb and for it to shift to one side. Don't be dismissed.... get some answers.
I hope you'll keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.
Take Care,
~Tuck
