I have been on Tramadol for several years.  It works great for me.  I take it as needed and have hydrocodone for the stronger pain.  I would reccommed trying it as it has been a life saver for me.

I have pain from Tarlov Disease and Interstial Cystitis.  I have been on Tramadol for 3 years with lortab for break through pain.  Tramadol has worked wonders for me. I have most of my active life back.  Don't know about withdrawal as I have had no reason to come off of the Tramadol.

Yes I have migraines and back pain as well. I take Imitrex for my migraines and Ibupropin. I also have a migraine variant that started in my 20's and I was throwing up all night and stomach pain but no migraine to start with. I couldn't get diagnoses until I saw a neurologist who did an EEG and it was positive for a migraine/seizure pattern. She tried antidepressants to get me to sleep so I wouldn't throw up and it worked for a  while. Finally, they gave me Klonpin. It is very addicitve I know but I have been on it for 20 years and haven't had the throwing up/abdominal pain since but I still get the migraines (which started in my 20's). I just never go up on the meds and it has helped me a lot. It isn't something you go on and off of it is a trail if it works you stay on it for life unless you want to go to rehab to get off. Some people take other migraine meds but also some have tried Depakote. It is different for everyone. My neighbor is a nurse practitioner and had migraines daily. She tried lots of things and finally tried IV magnesium. She seems to be doing well. Anyway, I wish for you to get out of pain. My chronic back pain is getting better from walking. But it is still a major problem. I'm not on anything for it because all the drugs have been too harsh for me.  I also tried biofeedback, accupunture, and various topicals. So, I feel for both of you.

I also suffer from migraines, arthritis, back pain, and chronic pain and have tried everything affordable to be in better health. In my teens and 20's I saw a rheumatologist and neurologist and was in excellent health for the next decade. From 1992 until the present time, I have been in poor health. Saw a neurologist for greater than 15 years that specializes in migraines, had sleep study, been to the Mayo Clinic (no rheumatology work-up  there), been to specialists in Endocrinology at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. I was fortunate to have been able to do this as I had medical insurance then. Now I have nothing. So, I am looking for affordable options and also very interested in non-pharmaceutical methods to relieve pain. I have tried biofeedback, guided imagery, meditation - all have helped to a degree. Acupunture worked great, but only gave me relief for a couple of days. TENS unit also worked. I am an RN so am very aware of adverse reactions to medications and the intereaction/adverse reactions between various medications prescribed by physicians. The sad thing is that you might not be aware that you are having an adverse reaction to the interaction between various medications and also the physician might miss this as well. I sincerely hope you can obtain safe pain relief. Best of luck to you.

I agree with Underwater101,
I took it for only 1 month (prescribed) and I had withdrawal for 5 days.

This is a dangerous medication. Even though it is not classified as a narcotic, it behaves like one. Use only under a licensed physician's supervision, and only as directed. Do not under any circumstances drink alcohol or drive anything or perform activities requiring mental alertness while taking this medication. Dependence and addiction are real possibilities.

I have chronic low back pain but I took Tramadol in the beginning of my injury. I wasn't able to stay on it for more than a month. I started getting shortness of breath and insomnia. So, for long term didn't work. What kind of pain do you have?
