If your shoulder joint dislocates or tends to sublux to the posterior (to the back) as mine do, you need to see an Orthopedic Surgeon that specializes in the area of the shoulder joint and nothing else.
If the joint dislocates or becomes subluxed too many times in will cause damage to the Glenoid Labrum. I would also takes Tuck' advice on getting an MRI.
I have had eight (8) surgeries so far for this problem and am heading into number nine. I let the problem go untreated too long.
Good Luck to you.
Hi KMB,
Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry that you have a problem with your arm. I assume that you are talking about your shoulder joint. There are no physicians on this site so my suggestions should not be considered an expert opinion.
In my opinion there are multiple reasons that can cause this including muscular tension or muscular weakness which can cause your joint to be unstable. Usually a good rehab program through PT can help strengthen those muscles that keep the joint in correct alignment. There are also shoulder supports.
Have you had an MRI or been evaluated by a sports medicine physician or a doctor of osteopathy? If not I would consider consulting with one of them.
Good luck to you. Please let us know how you are doing. I hope you will find a solution to your medical problem. We will look forward to your updates.
Take Care,
Tuck
