Hi Mom,

Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. Please excuse my tardy response. It doesn't mean your concern is not important... it means I have been incredibly busy with some personal medical issues.  I'm glad you found us and took the time to post.

You are always welcome here but you may find more responses on our Women Health Forum, if you would also like to post there please feel free to do so.

I am wondering in you may have Fibrocystic Breast Disorder/Disease whatever the current medical term is for the condition. It sounds serious but it isn't.... it's just painful. The hormones produced in our ovaries can affect the tissues of our breasts. Sometimes theses hormones will make our breasts feel swollen and "lumpy" and more often painful. Some women can relate this pain to cycles other women don't note the cyclic change to any great degree. For me the pain in my left breast was so extreme I could not lay on my left side. The pain also extended into left the axial area.

The common theory use to be that caffeine greatly affected this condition..... now that theory isn't as prominent. From personal experience I can say that caffeine made all the difference for me. I stopped all caffeine for 30 days (including chocolate)  and then gradually added minimum amounts back. I found my limit was one cup of morning coffee, no tea, no cola products and no chocolate. That dietary change kept my breast pain very tolerable and on many days absent.

Obviously I cannot say this is the cause of your pain. I do suggest that it be considered. Talk to your PCP and ask if this is a possibility.... and if so what she/he recommends.

Again I suggest that you also post in our Women Health Forum as they may have more suggestions. But please stay with us too... and let us know how you are doing and what you discover. We know about pain and how it can affect our daily lives.

I wish you well and hope that you will let us know how you are doing. I'll look forward to your updates.

Take Care,
~Tuck

Hi mom84,

First, I want to welcome you to the PM (Pain Management) Forum and let you know that we are glad you found this Forum. We are all CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with our own expertise and experiences that we have developed through our own CP Issues.

I'm so sorry that I am so late to your post!!  It saddens me when a young Mom is having to deal with pain when she her only worries should be her 3 Beautiful Children!!

You said that your Doctor thought that it was "blood clots" but found nothing.  Did they do an Ultra Sound or CT Scan? If not what type of test did they do for the clots?

You need to keep searching for your answers!! If you need to seek out a 2nd or even 3rd opinion don't hesitate to do that.  You deserve to have the answers to your pain, especially, with 3 young children that keep you going.

I'm sending Good Thoughts your way and will be looking for your updates.......Sherry :)
