playtime for 6 yr old is problemmatic

My partner has a 6 yr old daughter.  The daughter is terribly spoiled and didn't have much discipline at all until they moved in recently with me.  The daughter insists on the two of us watching her dance, watching her sing, playing school, playing pretend with her dolls, playing board games, going to the park where she wants us to watch her dance (instead of playing by herself on swings or  playground equipment).

Am I being unreasonable to expect this child to play more independently than she is?
Should we be expected to play with her all the time? How do we try to motivate her to play by herself?
