Why is my teen pooping in the shower?

My son is 13 and he has pooped in the shower at least twice in 6 months and does not clean it up.  Its like he wants to get caught or in trouble. Nothing huge, but little bits but he says he is already wet and doesn't want to get out to go. He has no motivation to self groom or do anything else when it comes to his school work or chores. What am I missing? Why would he do this when he knows it is wrong.

I would consider having a talk with your son's doctor, and possibly having your son evaluated for mental health or behavioral disorders, and evaluation to see if he's on the autism spectrum.  Behaviors that involve lack of self-care are often associated with autism, but could also be a sign of depression.
