MY 2YR OLD HAS A FEVER BLISTER!!:(

Well I went into my childs room this morning to wake him up and I noticed a red area on and beside his lip. I know its the Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 and I am also aware that it is contagious. My husband and I do not have the virus and after some investigating I have discovered that he got it from a significant grand parent :) >:O Now my question is: Is there anything that is safe to put on it to kinda help it heal and and keep it from spreading? I am a strong believer in natural remedies, but I have become desperate at this point. I have given him baby tylenol and help ice on it for a while(as long as I could with his patience) twice. His doctor is on Vacation( perfect timing). Anything would help at this point!!!
