Lesbian moms in need of advice

Ok, i am a lesbian mom; my life partner has 2 kids 5 and 7 and i have a 1 yr. old. A couple of things are happening with our son, who is 5. First of all they are only with us 4-5 days out of the week; we have shared custody with their father (whom which we all get along and are like best friends); but for the last year he wont stop pooping his pants. We dont know if he's trying to get attention, there's no stress on the family- but he does it in school too. we've tried EVERYTHING- but he wont tell us when he has to poop, or he'll poop and not even say anything til we smell it- sometimes that's for hours! what can we do to help break this- its not looking good when we want to do family vacations.

Could it be encopresis?  Does he have a fairly limited diet and a history of constipation?

Google encopresis and see if it sounds possible for him.  If it's that,  it's a fairly easy fix - with citrucel or metamucil or raw bran.

I would ask his doctor if there could be a medical problem.  If all comes back clear, maybe he is embarrassed to poop?

I am a lesbian mom as well--rock on!  We need more gay parents out there.  Hang in there the pooping will stop.  Talk to his doc.
