Does anyone know what can cause this?

I have a 7 year son who's had ongoing blood sugar problems for a year.  He has classic symptoms of diabetes but the glucose test came back fine.  His A1C fluctuates but is till within normal range.  He's been tested for diabetes insipidus and so his symptoms are not from that.  He had a MRI to check for a tumor on his pituitary gland.  He has a small cyst near it but not on it and it's very small the ped neurologist said it wasn't causing his symptoms.  We've seen 3 different doctors one being a endo and have been told his blood sugars are not normal but not off enough to be diabetes.  Does anyone have any other ideas of what can be causing this?  All this fluctuating can't be good for his body and I'm worried about the effects it's going to have.

There is another kind of diabetes (many now adays) called MODY, mature onset diabetes of the young, there are 6 types, type 2 mody is the most benign, abnormal sugars sometimes after we eat, takes a higher sugar to get the stubborn pancreas to work and then it puts out insulin, not caused by antibodies like type 1 or insulin resistance like type 2, this is a separate genetic thing that is due to miscoding or misprocessing in the islet cell or the many steps that lead to insulin production(put simply since it really is so complex)
Mody testing is available and I am seeing more and more kids with this.
Keep records of fasting and 2 hour sugar checks, ask your peds endo about MODY testing.
Lets see if this is the problem, other concerns include the kidneys and if they are not working well the sugar is not handled well or the urine output is not appropriate
HOpe this helps

start with your pediatrician, explain your concern, collect the information that they need, meaning the blood sugars that you have or are seeing so they can see if he is abnormal. If his sugars checked are not out of range that is great but if they are out of range that triggers your pediatrician to refer you again and consider testing for MOdy or other things.

We aren't currently seeing the peds endo because the one and only time we saw him he acted like I was crazy.  So should I take my son back to him or find another one?  If he does have that what can they do about it?  The only testing he has had done was over a year ago at they did an ultrasound of his kidneys at that time which was normal.  Would you suggest having another round of blood work/test done?
