Concerned about my daughter's CBC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My 2yr daughter runs fever every two weeks for months now she is also fatigued. If her fever is .103+ she vomits. Her
blood work showed a WBC of 25 with high sed rate, crp, and platelets. I don't
remember the exact numbers because I was stunned by her WBC. What could be wrong with her? All bacterial cultures were negative. She has swollen nodes on neck
along with swollen tonsils. Neg strep and throat culture. I do not think this is viral related. We will be see a infectious disease doctor soon but the wait is awful.

She is home now. It is most likely an infection but its the 100000th infection she has had in a few months  & she is not in day care so they are now raising their eyebrows & watching her & her blood work carefully. She cant seem to get back to herself 100% before getting sick again. They are looking into autoimmune because it runs in the family. I will update when we see the ID doctor. Thanks ladies!

Are they looking into autoimmune issues as well??  Wow, a lot to deal with.  I hope that you get some answers.  Keep going and making lots of noise  so that the doctors continue to work on finding out exactly what is going on.  Keep us updated!

Back to the dr today! Blood work still weird. Her wbc is 18.5(normal is 4-11) and her ESR was 46(normal is 0-20) which shows inflammation. Platelets and crp also went up. Back on breathing treatments but now its asthma & not related to her blood work. We are being referred to an infectious disease doctor. Thanks for replying!

As of now she is not much better. Sleeping alot & when she awake she is grouchy. She sweats so bad when she sleeps. Which is new. She had a 101 temp again this morning. Breathing is good though. Her poor body:(

As far as pain she is 2 and it is hard to tell. She had leg pain all night the night we went into the hospital. I assumed this was cramps since she was dehydrated.

We were rehospialized! They never told us what was going on the first time. While being there caught rsv and since her immune system is already in overload rsv became the croup. She went into respiratory arrest,bp & o2 dropped. Scariest nights of my life. For now we have to keep her isolated until they know why her immune system is compromised.

It seems the fever syndrome can affect anyone and you don't need an environment to create it like day care.  Check out the Cleveland Clinic article on it.  I hope that this clears up quickly for her!!  good luck

Hi, it sounds like "periodic fever syndrome".  Almost to a tee.  The Cleveland Clinic has researched this and has an article out about it.
Here is the link:

http://my.clevelandclinic.org/disorders/periodic_fever_syndrome/rheumatology_overview.aspx

Basically, it is an issue in young children but resolves after the age of 10 by iteself.

Sick kids are really  hard.  I feel for you dear.  good luck.

It could be tonsillitis it does recur  the WBC probably  means she has an infection ,unless the doctor looked at her tonsils and ruled it out. We have noticed that many children have been sick with similar recurring infections , so possible a virus is running rampant ..hope you get your appt soon, good luck
