Frequent passing of stools

Hi! My son is 28 months old and weighs about 22 pounds. He passes stools very frequently, almost 7 to 8 times during the day. The consistency of the same appears to be normal. He refuses to be toilet trained and it seems as though he does not realise that he needs to pass stools. He does have low muscle tone. Can you please help diagnose what the problem really is?

I agree maybe nothing wrong just likes pooping ..keep an eye on it, he is to young for potty training at least here we think so .,I have found that children that are 'trained too early 'sometime regress and 3 year old is when the light bulb comes on ..good luck

You say "he refuses to be toilet trained."  It's too early to try to train a boy to use the loo, especially for stools.  If you are making a big deal of it, try not to.

Talk to his pediatrician.  Possibly nothing is wrong, and your child is just someone who is pooping a lot at this age.

He has a well balanced diet. And mostly home cooked food. 8-10 ounces of milk a day. Currently no meds.
