Lymph nodes are situated in the neck and head area, in the neck are called cervical adenitis if they may become enlarged and tender,. Sources of infection can be scratches, bug bites, strep throat, can be viral or bacterial, usually treated with anti biotics if bacterial, will go away by itself if viral .White blood cells fight infection.,hence if she has an infection the count is high ..Think back to any occurrances any bites, any folks been playing with her may have inadvertently scratched her.Sounds like a good idea to check her blood again as the infection may have gone .The lymph nodes are doing their job .
