My Son

20 months old, can not walk yet. Does not chew food, spits out solids. Will only eat baby foods and drink liguids. Sometimes does not respond to his name. Likes noises and pictures a lot, but can get very absorbed with things. Likes to spin all his toys, even ones that you wouldn't expect. Does like to stack things too, even though he won't stack his blocks. Is VERY afraid of the running water in the tub. He is a very catious child too. Most kids will just jump in while he seems to take his time with new things. Did have an issue with being constipated untill recently. He does rock himself overly much too. He naps a little too much too. People always comment on how good he is, but do think he isn't developing properly. He laughs and vocalizes a fair amount, but does not say words or speak in sentences. What may be wrong?

my son did not walk until almost 2.  He had a hernia in is testicle.  He had horrible bowel problems also. Textures may be a issue.  Your may just not like the texture of foods.   i took my son to every doctor i could find with no luck.  I am still looking for answers.  Get him in to physical theraphy to help him catch up.  It has helped my son greatly.  Sorry to suggest have you had him checked for autism?  My son has some signs of it, but not diagnosied.  Good luck and my prayers are with you.

Sounds pretty normal to me.  My boy is over 2 years old and talks maybe 2 word sentences. Don't expect sentences until maybe 2 1/2 or 3 years of age.  Some children are rather "picky" eaters.  It is good that he tries the food. If he spits it out could be a trial of things: teething?, possible acid reflux (there is such thing as called silent acid reflux) ask your pediatrician.  I know a lot of children who are afraid of taking baths b/c of the running water, don't worry that is normal. Don't push any of these issues with him b/c it will make it worse. Possibly just wash him with without trying to run the faucet. It will soon pass. Remember all children are different. There are a lot of kids who are cautious, some hate being messy while others don't care.
