Newborn not eating and sitting up what she does eat with mucus.

My now 6 day old neice has not been eating and when they would get her to finally take down some formula she was spitting it back up with what i was told green mucus this was on day 2. Day 3 it wasnt green anymore but still wasnt holding much of it down. By day 4 they put her on an IV and sent her to Boston. They were monitoring her and had her on antibiotics for a few day for what they thought may have been an infection and she was doing better yesterday but now today she wasnt doing to well and took her off the antibiotics because they feel that is must not be an infection. What i'm being told is they are stumped as to why she wont eat and I just feel horrible for her monther and father to know that nobody is doing much of anything to figure this out. They are soon going feed her through an IV. I would just like to try to get some possible answers that the mother could raise to the Doctors.

You are very right on that, I guess I was very upset by the whole situation they are doing their best to figure things out. We are hoping to get some results today that would say she has Hirschsprung's Disease which is cureable through surgery and not life threatening (having to do with her colon). It's just aweful not knowing when she can come home, at least if we get a positive we will finally know and be at ease. I will keep this updated because i know there are other posts that I would have like to of heard the outcome and was never updated. Thank you for the positive reinforcement.

If she's in Boston in a neo-natal ICU, she's in the best care. It's very scary, but letting the doctors do their job in this case would be ideal. It sounds like a tough situation, and I'm sure the doctors are doing their best. ***** to hear that, I know, but sometimes that's as good as it gets. Hang in there! Blessings.
