Tooth pain or sinus infection?

my 14yr old has been having major pain for a week. Her left side of her face, neck, teeth are the areas affected.  Plus headaches and slight fever. She thought it was a toothache, so after seeing her dentist, getting xrays, she ruled out any tooth issues (except possibly a root canal gone bad) and said possibly a sinus infection to which she prescribed pennicillin.  Last night my daughter awoke in tremendous agony and her regular doctor appt. isn't until this afternoon to check for a sinus infection. Also dentist referred me to an oral surgeon, just in case, to check her root canal that was done 3 yrs. ago. I have given her ibprofin and a warm pack to rest on her jaw area because she said it kind of helps.  what else can I do to make her comfortable?

I wonder if would be okay to cut in half a vicodin? I would have to crush it and put in yogurt or applesauce since she cant swallow pills of any kind. She's not a tiny gal she weighs 140lbs. She's in so much agony I hate to not be able to help. The ibprofin I gave her hours ago did nothing except lower her fever a little bit. She's been awake since 3am!!

awww I am sorry teeth problems can really hurt  I expect when they see her this afternoon they will prescribe something for pain, its surprising the anti biotic didnt work to kill the infection, it may indeed not be the root canal but something else .There really is not much else to do, they should have prescribed a pain killer when they saw her .
