toddler frequent urination

My 3 year old son was potty trained.  About  3 weeks ago he started having accidents.  My husband and I thought he was just being lazy.  However I noticed that he would not urinate in the morning when he woke up.  It would be about 4-5 hours after he woke up before he would pee.  After that he would go about 10 times within a 3 hour period and then stop again until he went to bed at 8 pm.  During the night i had to start putting pull ups on him and he would sometimes leak through.  My momther thinks I should take him to the doctor.  Is she overreacting, or is this problem more than just his fluid intake?

I think your Mom is right he may have a Bladder infection and he should see the Doctor, how is his fluid intake, and is he eating okay ,any pains in his lower stomach? His going 10 times sounds like an irritated bladder ,so your Doc will know what to give him.
