Urine Dripping After Finishing

Hello,
I am a 24-year old female who has been suffering with urine dripping after I finish (or think that I have finished) urinating for over a year now. I have tried waiting a while before getting up and after getting up from the toilet but somehow as soon as I leave the bathroom urine manages to drip and my underwear gets wet. This doesn't usually happen randomly during the day, only after going to the bathroom. Also, I do not have this problem when laughing, sneezing, etc. On bad days I have to go to the bathroom very frequently, I feel extremely uncomfortable with an urgent need to urinate but when I go to the bathroom only little comes out & the discomfort remains. My doctor gave me an exercise (holding a cushion between my thighs & squeezing it for 30 seconds at a time, however, this hasn't helped with my condition) He also had me do an ultrasound which showed PVR of 13ml. All the reasons I have found online for this have to do with old age or pregnancy (I have not been pregnant & I am 24), so I'm pretty confused as to why this is happening. I desperately need help!

Thank you!

Hello, I am not sure what PVR stands for, but I am a woman who had uterine prolapse at 24 years old and have never had a child so unfortunately women can develop pelvic organ prolapse long before they are elderly and even without having a child. I would strongly suggest you start by seeing a uro/gyn as they are the specialists that deal with pelvic organ prolapse and will be the best dr. to help you figure out what is going on in your body.

Have you ever seen a physical/physio therapist as this could be pelvic floor dysfunction which keeps the muscles in a contracted state which does not allow the body to do what it needs to do in order to close the urethra after urinating because they are already at maximum contracted capacity so they have no ability to tighten if they are already too tight...this is one thought but it could be so many things ~ infection, interstitial cystitis, pop...so the best starting point would be with a uro/gyn to see what is truly going on. Good luck and let us know what you find out or if you have any other questions!

What does PVR stand for?
There are a few points that spring to mind here.
You dont have to have had a baby to have prolapse, however there may be several questions you may wish to ask your Dr.
Are you seeing a Urogynecologist?
Have you been tested for a Urinary infection?
Your symptoms seem very similar to a UTI even though you dont mention pain.  Dribbling and a constant feeling of needing to pass urine are features of a UTI as well as possible IC.
I have a bladder wall infection as well as several prolapses and an intussusception of the bowel and am having antibiotic treatment for my bladder which could take a long time.
If you do have prolapse issues and need to strengthen your PF, dont worry that you are too young to have this happen as women of all ages can get prolapse issues due to different reasons.  Some young gymnasts have problems due to the rigorous downwards pressure at the end of routines and prolapse can happen due to long term coughing, constipation issues or heavy lifting.

The important thing is that you get a diagnosis and treatment that work for you.
Have you considered a second opinion?
