People alergic to me

Sorry for the long post. Hi, I'm a 15 year old male student who suffered Patm for almost 1 year and I can assure you it is not a joke and is real. My first ever suspicion that something strange was going on when I was in class and these two girls just started coughing, the class after I had same reactions for 1 person then 2 and then 1 more in the class. I soon realised that people were also getting reactions in public. I asked my father about this and he said. A paranoid and "crazy to ever think something like this". I kept wanting to talk about this to my father but ignores me. I went to the gp after living through this hell for a month and told the doctors about my situation and they also couldn't believe me! I then was getting worried about people in my presence. We then went over seas and on the flight, people were non stop coughing and clearing throats (cough) (cough). Then I learned something new. People always cough to times, not once or three, just (cough) (cough). I started going through depression and didn't want to live anymore. My life has completely changed, I now sit alone in class and everyone is on the other side. Also people in my class turn the fans on, but just the one above me because "its too hot". I then started getting pissed at everyone who coughed at me. But weirdly enough my black friends seem to have different reactions other then coughing and sneezing, they rub their nose. I try really hard to stay positive but I just can't deal with it, I now have social anxiety because of Patm. I am just a 15 year old, why am going through this. I always think about if I didn't have Patm. I got fired because the manager said they "have enough employee" I have tried getting a job everywhere and the all said no. I won't be able to ever have a job and I will always be a loner now and never be able to have a girlfriend. Half the people in my class changed because they can't deal my me being in their presence. I just can't anymore. I want to end my life. I'm already done. I have tried eating no meat and no dairy for a week but had little affect. I ate fruits for the whole day and NO ONE coughed until 2 hours later (cough) (cough). Please help me

I am sorry to hear that, but you have to know that there is one cure for this, and it's being relax and control as much as you can your thoughts. it's hard in the first time but if you continue its will be vanished. I had this thing and I can ensure you that it's work, but if you prefer to believe the other stupidly cures that you probably read hear it's will never leave you. Pay attention how you breathe when when you around people, you will be amazed how bad you breathing. so my tip for you is to breath well, will you around people.  read about "Olfactory reference syndrome"

I can assure you uriDM is  correct ,I my self used to suffer from this nothing worked for me except controlling my fear, dont be afraid or feel guilty every time you hear some one cough.dont let it become a thing.just be normal dont give any special attention to PATM.That is the only way you are going to get rid of PATM.I can guarantee that learned by experience.

Amer. Check out the post that I wrote not too long ago. PATM is caused by toxic mold. The reason why people react whenever you're around them is because you are carrying microscopic spores from your house. Another possibility is that after being in a moldy house for so long, you are now literally a moldy person and people are reacting to either your odor or your sweat or your skin. Normal doctors have no clue on how to treat this. You need to see an environmental or occupational doctor for this symptom.

First thing you should do is check your house for any signs of mold. Message me after you have done that. I've been in contact with a few specialists so I know what I'm talking about. Not a lot of people know about toxic mold illness. That is why it is pointless to talk to people who will never get it. You are not alone in this! This is not a mental illness. This is serious and real. Long exposure to toxic mold can harm your health.

so scotthunter tell us, how did  you proved your theory ? what is your export? can you count by hand how many doctors can find it real?
Toxic Mold Illness is a legit thing. I did not come up with it. It is not a theory, it is a scientific fact lol. PATM on the other hand is made up. We created this name because we do not understand what it really is.

Some mold are harmless but some others contain mycotoxin which is harmful and dangerous. If you wanna exclude mycotoxin, long exposure to the mold itself can cause asthma, lung infection, metallic taste in the mouth, allergies, etc.

If some doctors tell you that you are nuts, they can't be blamed as it might not be their field of expertise. That is why there are different types of specialist out there. You need to know Who to talk to. Besides that, you really need to know how to communicate with your doctor as well. Telling a normal doctor about PATM or Toxic Mold Illness will just be a waste of time. You need to speak with them in scientific terms. For example, tell them your house is infested with Aspergillus, Penicillium or Stachybotrys instead of saying "My house has mold and it's making me sick".

I have no 100% proof that everyone's PATM is triggerd by mold and that is why I asked him to check 1st but I am at least 90% sure it is the answer. I have been in contact with a couple of PATM sufferers and trying to get as much info as I can. Some of them even contacted me themselves and told me I am on the right track as their house indeed have mold. I also saw someone posted on this thread saying that he went to a lab and tested positive for mycotoxin. So, that just further proves that I am right. I have joined a facebook support group for toxic mold illness few months ago and everyone there has PATM. We don't call it that. In fact, nobody knows what PATM is over there. We just say that we are allergic to moldy people and moldy places. When we suffer from toxic mold illness, we have to go on a strict diet called the candida or paleo diet as candida overgrowth is one of the many symptoms. If you've been on the PATM forum for a long time, you will notice a lot of people saying that they have candida and they feel so much better after going on a candida diet. Coincidence? I think not.

I have been suffering from toxic mold illness for 7 months now and I've been doing an intense research for 5 to 6 months and still constantly researching, learning and helping other people. Allergic reaction is just an early stage symptom. I do not wish for anyone to suffer like me. PATM is a real scientific-based illness. It is not some spiritual or alien thing. I won't deny that thinking positively helps, but this is not a mental illness. People should start knowing what PATM really is.
Maybe you are both right and toxic mold  in our body such as strong mental stress is extremely burdening and energy starving which in the end leads to this disease?
you didn't answer my question as I believed. I read your comment, and there is no proven source for your theory, but the most strange thing is that you didn't cured although your confidence about your theory. the idea about mold is correct and known well to the science as allergy, when a person have allergy reactions to mold. not between people!
but if it's makes you feel good, it's your business
What do you mean by proven source? Everyone who suffered from toxic mold can be a witness lmao. Did you even read the post written by the other guy about him tested positive for mycotoxin? You wan proof? Try joining several facebook support groups and ask them about being allergic to another person. And did you even do some research on the relationship between Morgellons and PATM? I bet you didn't! Everything is related. Morgellons and Toxic Mold are related. And all leading back to PATM. Since you are so lazy, here are some links about the relationship between Morgellons and PATM :

There is no way a human can be allergic to another human. You are either allergic to the perfume/cologne he or she is wearing or there is pollen or spores on his or her body. Another possibility is mites or parasites. I am confident because I have all the sources. I have interviewed people who suffered from PATM and have asked medical advice from professionals from all over the world. I spent countless nights emailing environmental doctors and did an intense research for many months and I managed to connect the dots. Did you do that? Nope.

The reason that I'm not cured and still suffering because I have yet moved to a new place. That is why in my previous post, I have mentioned that it is pointless if you eat the right food and exercise regularly because you will continue to get sick if you keep recontaminating yourself again and again. I speak from personal suffering and experience. Go do your research for 5-6 months and then come back here to have a valid argument with me.

If thinking positively and relaxing is helping you or any other people here, then good for you and fine by me. Thinking positively did help reduced the worries I had of infecting and affecting other people but it did not cure me from having candida, fungal infection, bacteria infection, GERD, acid reflux, body ache, metallic taste in the mouth, jaundice, hair loss and so much more. It all started with sticky skin syndrome and PATM. Me being not cured is not really a bad thing because I can use that as an experience to help other people in need.
Hey keitic, toxic mold or mycotoxin is known to cause mental health issues such as brain fog/memory loss, ADHD, Alzheimer, anxiety, OCD, etc. I wouldn't call the itchiness a disease. More of an effect of an allergy reaction to the spores or the mold itself. You will notice that not everyone will itch around you because some people are just not allergic to mold but you will probably notice them cough, sneeze or rub their eyes and nose because they can still breathe in the spores and the spores can still fly towards their eyes, thus causing them discomfort. Even a person who is not allergic to mold can get sick or discomfort if the spores enter their lungs.
I too also feel I have been exposed to mold, but what is puzzling me is how do you explain this happening through windows when you make eye contact with someone while youre in your car? They cant possibly see the mold or smell it while youre in your own car. And also has anything helped you with removing the toxins from your body aside from sweating them out.
There are a few possibilities(This is going to be a long comment so please bear with me) :

1. Same thing when people say they can affect other people through a video call. You worry too much. People who have PATM tend to blame themselves for everything that happens around them. If you see one person coughing, you blame yourself. If you see 2 people scratching, you blame yourself. If you see most people in the same room scratching, sneezing and coughing, guess what? 100% chance that you will blame yourself. Allergens are everywhere. People are scratching themselves, coughing and sneezing almost all the time. It's just that when you are a PATM sufferer, you tend to pay more attention to your surroundings. If you have PATM, you will definitely make other people allergic to you because of the spores on you but to affect other people inside another car, that is still debatable and more research still has to be done.

2. Your car is moldy not only on the inside but on the outside as well. But how do you affect other people inside another car where the windows are shut closed? Perhaps you can think about the odor. When a garbage truck passes by your car, you would feel discomfort. So, if a moldy car parks beside another person's car, I think it's safe to say that he or she might feel discomfort due to the musty smell. Check if the place where you park your car(garage or driveway) is moldy or not. Frequent raining or dampness can cause mold to grow on your car and when a moldy person uses a car, the car will be contaminated as well.

3. Another possibility is the work of ions. There are positive and negative ions. Negatives ions are actually good despite the name. Positive ions are not that bad but too much of them ain't good either. Ions are molecules in the air that have gained or lost an electrical charge. They can be found in human bodies too. I have an air purifier which has the plasmacluster function. It emits positive and negative ions in the air to kill pathogens. The ions attach themselves to the surface of the microbes and then they bond when they attach to the surface
and transform into highly oxidative OH radicals. The hydrogen is drawn out and combines with the OH radicals and turns into H2O and returns to the air. Without hydrogen, the protein breaks down. The lack of negative ions and excessive positive ions can cause some symptoms. I have done some research on ions and this website stated that having allergies is one of the symptoms.

Check this website out :
https://www.quantumbalancing.com/negative_ions.htm

I have personally experienced a somewhat long distance PATM reaction myself in my own house. I was fine all day but when my father came home, I had an allergic reaction. He was downstairs and I was in my bedroom with the door shut. I thought I was being paranoid at that time. I guess you can say that when a person is moldy, he or she could have too much positive ions and therefore they are able to make other people allergic to them.

To answer your question about the toxins :

1. If you are susceptible to toxic mold illness, you might have the HLA gene that does not recognize mycotoxin as a toxin inside your body. That is why people who have that type of HLA gene need binders such as bentonite clay, chlorella or activated charcoal to help bind the toxins and pass them out together with your stool. Although, people who don't have that specific HLA gene can still get sick due to toxic mold exposure. It just takes a longer time for them to get ill because they have a stronger immune system. I would suggest talking to your doctor before taking any one of these binders/supplements if you can. Everybody's body is different and some might work for you and some might not.

Read this for more information. Step 10 is where you can find information about the binders :
http://www.survivingtoxicmold.com/help___where_do_i_start__

You don't have to follow every step. I don't think anyone has that kind of time or money. Just do what's comfortable for you.

2. Some doctors have mentioned that you can only sweat out a very small percentage of toxins. Don't get me wrong, doing exercise really helps and lots of people have claimed that going to the sauna helps a lot as well though I have yet got the chance to try it. The real way you are going to get rid of toxins from the body is through the kidney and liver(your urine and stool). So be sure to drink lots of water and increase your fiber intake.

3. Go on a candida diet or a paleo diet. This means no sugar, yeast or grain. I'm quite flexible when it comes to the candida diet. They say you're not supposed to take fruits in the first 2 weeks but I didn't follow that rule as I had problems with constipation. I needed my nutrients lol. And for the sugar part, they say you're not suppose to consume refined and unrefined sugar and even natural sweeteners such as honey. I still consume honey because of the antibacterial. I'm not that strict when it comes to the candida diet.

4. Include some antifungal foods such as garlic, onion and coconut oil in your diet. These really helped me with my chronic fatigue. You can also apply the coconut oil on your skin. If you have any skin condition due to PATM, coconut oil can help. I also think it helps with the PATM itchiness symptom as well.

The cheapest way to test whether or not your PATM is caused by Toxic Mold is try staying at your friend's place for a couple of days or even weeks to see if there are any differences. You can also go for a long vacation and see how it goes. If you have any question, just message me.
Hav you tried staying by a friends place..because I did. Same reactions. I had mine over a year, and tested everything possible for a year. Found nothing. I am still on candida diet n cleansing..reduced by 50% but thats it. Is there any solution for you aside diet?
Hey withdrawnupnorth. Did you try detoxing? Some of us do not have the gene to recognize mycotoxin in our bodies. We need binders such as bentonite clay to help us do that. You can also eat certain food that help detox the body as well such as berries, turmeric, chia seeds.

Hi Amer, so sorry to hear you are going through this.  It's not an easy condition to deal with.

I want you to know that we all know what you are facing is real, and we've all been through the struggles you have been, so you are not alone.

I also want to tell you that I stopped having reactions a long time ago due to a few supplements that I found helpful.  I wrote about them on a thread called "The PATM Cure is Here", but I've since altered to recommendations somewhat to identify supplements that I think are even more effective.

Below are what I believe are common problems are, and the corresponding treatments:

Lack of Good Bacteria -- I think many of us suffer from a lack of good bacteria. One of the most common causes is taking an antibiotic, as it kills both good and bad bacteria, but there are other causes.  Because of this, we need to fill our bodies back with good bacteria.  You can do this by eating lots of green vegetables, but a more effective way is to take a probiotic, a type of supplement.  I've found the best one is Ortho Biotic, produced by Ortho Molecular Products.  Its main ingredient is Saccharomyces boulardii, but it contains many other good bacteria strains.  It is good in that you don't have to refrigerate it and it doesn't get destroyed by your stomach acid.

Candida -- We all have a yeast called candida in our bodies.  Good bacteria keeps the candida from growing out of control, but if we don't have enough good bacteria we get an overgrowth.  I think many of us have an overgrowth of this yeast in our intestine.  It spreads through our bodies and hides out among our organs.  When the yeast dies it create 79 different toxins.  Because there are so many toxins our liver cannot get rid of them quickly, and so they spread through our body's largest organ, which is the skin.  And these toxins are what cause people's reactions.  Now the treatment:  the most effective one I have come across is Candida Cleanse, a supplement produced by Purely Holistic (only available on Amazon).  It has a number of herbs that are known for fighting candida, and it will help you detox.  If you are not able to get it, the next best thing is Candida Support by NOW Foods, which you should be able to find in health food stores.  If supplements are too expensive for you, I would recommend buying garlic or coconut oil and adding them to your daily diet, as they are two of the most powerful antifungals for candida.  Regardless of whether you buy anything, the MOST IMPORTANT thing you can do to stop candida from multiplying is to cut sugar out from your diet.  This means no cookies, cakes, candies, etc.  There is sugar in almost all foods, so what I would do is look at the ingredients label and make sure there is no more than 5-6 grams of sugar in a food product.  I would also avoid all breaded items as they also help candida grow (e.g., chicken strips and chicken mcnuggets at McDonald's).

Toxin Overload -- As I just mentioned candida causes a buildup of toxins in our systems.  Toxins in the human body are most effectively killed by oxygen.  There is a supplement that floods the body with oxygen called Oxy Powder, made by Global Healing Center.  When I first took it my reactions decreased significantly within two weeks.  The most important thing is that it makes you have bowel movements that get rid of the toxins.  You can find it online or in certain health food stores.  The cheapest one is $10 for 20 capsules on the Global Healing Center website.

Leaky Gut -- Candida yeast poke holes in our intestine, causing what is called leaky gut.  These holes allow undigested food particles to seep through our intestine to our bloodstream and also make it harder for the liver to do its work.  The best supplement for this is Brown Rice Protein Powder.  My favorite brand is Jarrow Formulas, although I've heard from some people that other brands work as well.  Brown Rice Protein Powder contains over 20 different amino acids and they help to seal the holes in your intestinal wall.  I saw amazing results after 3 weeks to a month.  You can find it online and in certain health food stores, including GNC.   If you don't believe me that it's effective, just search these forums as a few other people have reported positive results.  If it is too expensive, consider getting another supplement with a lot of amino acids in it, although I can't guarantee it will work.

Here's my suggested process for these:  try the Oxy Powder first as it offers the quickest relief (use it for about 2 weeks).  If you're not seeing anything change try the Brown Rice Powder for at least 3 weeks.  The other two supplements are important but their results are not as immediate (take awhile).

Feel free to message me directly if you have any questions.  as I do not check these forums very often anymore.  Don't worry, this condition can be fought, and you will get through it.  Keep hope alive!!

One more thing -- to see a list of foods you should avoid when on a candida diet, check out The Candida Diet website; it has a great list.
I tried oxy powder n supplements with candida diet..no effect on me. I lost 47 lbs cutting out everything..still struggling. I find candida.gone works better n reduced but not gone. I am on strict diet and giving up..lost alot of friends..feel just hopeless

Black mold exposure and black mold poisoning can cause a wide range of health problems. Some black mold symptoms can actually be really serious. You may have found this article from googling “black mold in shower” or “mold in house.” Unfortunately, mold problems are not unusual in the home, and the shower is a classic location to find black mold flourishing. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, molds in general are very common in homes and buildings and they can grow anywhere indoors where there is moisture. (1)

You can help your body recover if you’ve been exposed to black mold. You can also naturally rid your home of black mold and prevent it in the first place! Black mold symptoms are highly unpleasant so you really don’t want to deal with them if you don’t have to.

What Is Black Mold?

Black mold is easily distinguishable from other molds because, not surprisingly, it tends to be dark black. Black mold, also known as Stachybotrys chartarum or Stachybotrys atra, can be found indoors growing on a variety of surfaces, especially things with a high cellulose content like wood, fiberboard, gypsum board, paper, lint and dust. (2)

Other than being black, what does black mold look like? Black mold can actually be a greenish or grayish black. It has a distinctive odor that’s musty and mildew-like.

What is mold? A mold is a type of fungus that grows in filaments and reproduces by forming mold spores that cannot be seen by the naked human eye. Mold can grow and thrive in any season, indoors or outdoors, in damp, warm and humid environments, and it spreads like wild fire. Mold itself flourishes in warm, moist environments, but mold spores can actually survive in harsh, dry environments. The spores float around in indoor and outdoor air. When the spores land on a moist surface, the mold can then start to grow.

Black mold is most likely to rear its ugly head in areas of the home that are warm, humid and damp. In addition to showers, basements and crawlspaces that may have leaks, or some other sources of moisture, are commonly susceptible to the growth of toxic black mold.

I want to note that according to the CDC, the term “toxic mold” is not accurate. However, it does admit that molds (like black mold) can produce toxins (specifically mycotoxins) that are toxic or poisonous. So maybe we should call it toxin-producing black mold.

Black Mold Symptoms

There are several common black mold symptoms. Some of these symptoms of mold exposure include: (3)
•Headaches
•Chronic fatigue
•Fever
•Eye irritation
•Sneezing
•Rashes
•Irritation to the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and throat
•Chronic coughing

Black mold symptoms are even worse if the black mold exposure is severe, has lasted for a long time or if the individual has a mold allergy. Symptoms could include nausea, vomiting, as well as bleeding in the nose and lungs. Studies have also linked household mold exposure to depression. (4)

The extent of black mold symptoms depends upon the number of spores inhaled and the duration of exposure. Black mold easily causes mold allergy symptoms, and symptoms likely persist until you get rid of the the black mold. Sometimes people don’t realize the health problems they’re having are actually black mold symptoms. Black mold is not something to ignore because it only gets worse the longer you ignore it.

If you’re looking for a way to confirm that you have black mold poisoning, some laboratories offer testing for the presence of mycotoxins in the body. Labs use an immunology test called an Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) to test urine samples for aflatoxins, ochratoxin A and trichothecenes. (5)

What is black mold? - Dr. Axe

Black Mold Causes and Risk Factors

Moisture combined with warmth in any environment is the major predecessor to black mold. Bathrooms, especially showers, are not the only prime locations for mold. The basement, especially if there is any water leakage, is another common area for black mold to flourish.

Another place to watch out for black mold is your HVAC or air conditioning system, which is constantly recycling air. If there is moisture in the air, this can lead to moisture inside the system, which can then lead to mold growth. In addition to the mold actually growing within the inside of the system itself, now you have a system that’s spewing out mold spores into your living space. This is why it’s so important to have your system checked and cleaned regularly, or even replaced if the system already contains mold.

Conventional Treatment of Black Mold

Typically, you can see or smell large black mold infestations. Smaller infestations can be harder to find. Wondering how black mold is conventionally treated? (6)

According to the CDC, “In most cases mold can be removed from hard surfaces by a thorough cleaning with commercial products, soap and water, or a bleach solution of no more than 1 cup of bleach in 1 gallon of water. Absorbent or porous materials like ceiling tiles, drywall, and carpet may have to be thrown away if they become moldy. If you have an extensive amount of mold and you do not think you can manage the cleanup on your own, you may want to contact a professional who has experience in cleaning mold in buildings and homes. It is important to properly clean and dry the area as you can still have an allergic reaction to parts of the dead mold and mold contamination may recur if there is still a source of moisture.”

Are you wondering how to test for mold? One option is to hire a professional mold tester to collect and analyze mold samples. A cheaper option is to order a black mold test kit, which you can use to collect mold samples yourself. You then send the samples to a professional mold testing laboratory.

12 Natural Ways to Deal with Black Mold Symptoms

If you already see or smell black mold, remove it immediately and thoroughly.

If you’re experiencing black mold poisoning, there are thankfully some natural ways to help with your black mold symptoms, including:

1. Raw Garlic

Raw garlic has amazing antifungal abilities, which is just what your body needs when it has been exposed to black mold. Garlic helps to kill off fungi, molds and yeasts. Two to four grams of fresh garlic per day, or 600 milligrams to 900 milligrams of garlic tablets daily, is recommended for toxic mold exposure. (7)

2. Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal can be taken as a supplement for mold cleansing. Most people don’t think about mold living in their bodies, but it can, and activated charcoal is a potent natural treatment. It traps toxins in the body, allowing them to be flushed out so the body doesn’t reabsorb them. Activated charcoal is made from a variety of sources, but when used for natural healing, it’s important to select activated charcoal made from coconut shells or other natural sources.

3. Chlorophyll

It’s so much more than a green pigment found in plants. I’m talking about chlorophyll, which has shown an ability to protect DNA from damage caused by toxic molds like aflatoxin. (8) Chlorophyll also has antibacterial and antifungal properties, making it a highly recommended part of any healthy diet, but especially one that is looking to fight black mold symptoms.

Chlorophyll is in green vegetables, especially dark green leafy ones, so eat them regularly. Chlorella, spirulina and phytoplankton are three of the best sources of chlorophyll; they’re available in a variety of supplement forms.

4. Cut Down or Cut Out Sugar

If you’re suffering from mold toxicity, sugar is definitely not your friend. Fungi, which include molds and yeasts, require the presence of sugar for survival. Eliminate, or significantly cut down, your sugar intake to help to get rid of any black mold symptoms.

Natural treatments for black mold - Dr. Axe

When it comes to black mold in your home, these are some of the best natural ways to deal with black mold:

5. Identify the Moisture Source

The absolute key to dealing with black mold anywhere is to identify what’s creating the warm, damp environment in which the black mold can flourish. If you clean up black mold but don’t address the source of the moisture, then the black mold is highly likely to return. No natural or conventional treatment will prevent or remove mold permanently unless you remove mold’s necessary ingredient, which is moisture.

6. Fix the Source

You need to completely fix any water leaks, enable better ventilation where humidity is high and/or address any HVAC system problems. You can also purchase a dehumidifier for any areas that tend to be too humid. Exhaust fans are in kitchens and bathrooms for good reason. Make sure you use them to get moisture out of these prime mold areas.

7. Throw Away Mold-Ridden Items

Discard any items that are porous or if you are unable to completely remove the mold from them. It’s also a very smart idea to get rid of any carpets that have been flooded because they’re very prone to mold. Never paint or caulk over moldy surfaces.

8. Tea Tree Oil

Bleach will definitely work to effectively kill black mold. However, it’s ideal not to turn to bleach since bleach comes with so many concerning health side effects, including irritation to the eyes, mouth, lungs and skin. If you have asthma or another breathing problem, then the use of bleach is even more health-hazardous. Bleach can also burn human tissue, both internally and externally, especially in small children. (9)

Tea tree oil is one of several natural mold killers that you can employ instead of bleach. To put tea tree oil’s natural fungicide power to work, combine two teaspoons of tea tree oil with two cups water in a spray bottle and shake well. Spray the mixture anywhere that you see black mold. Then just let it sit and reapply as needed. Tea tree oil is said to be one of the best natural mold killers. (10) Pine oil can also be used in a similar fashion.

9. Baking Soda

Baking soda is another great natural anti-mold substance. Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with two cups of water in a spray bottle. Make sure to shake the mixture well. Next, spray the moldy areas and use a scrubbing brush to scrub the black mold away. Rinse the area and spray it again with the baking soda solution. This time just let it dry.

10. Vinegar

Put undiluted white distilled vinegar into a spray bottle and spray the vinegar directly on the moldy area(s). Let it set without any rinsing or scrubbing. This is a smelly natural mold remedy, but it’s said to be highly effective and the vinegar scent will fade.

11. Grapefruit Seed Extract

If you just can’t handle the smell of vinegar (even short term), then there is another option that is odorless. I’m talking about grapefruit seed extract, which is an excellent antifungal both internally and externally. To use it on a moldy area in your home, simply combine 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract with two cups of water in a spray bottle. Shake the mixture and spray it directly on the mold  and do not rinse. (11)

12. Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is another odorless option that can be used to kill black mold. Pour a 3 percent concentration hydrogen peroxide into a spray bottle and spray the moldy areas until they are saturated. Let the hydrogen peroxide sit for at least 10 minutes before scrubbing the area well. Wipe the area with hydrogen peroxide when you’re done scrubbing.

Natural remedies may not be as strong as bleach, and typically need to be repeated, but they are a much healthier route!

Black Mold Prevention

The main way to prevent black mold infestation and black mold exposure is moisture control. If you have a water leak or flooding, address the source of the water to prevent mold growth. If you’re having trouble in your bathroom and don’t have an exhaust fan, then it’s a a good idea to install one.

You should also aim to keep humidity down in your home — ideally, not higher than 50 percent. If humidity is a problem where you live, then a dehumidifier can be helpful. This is especially important when the weather is humid outdoors. In warmer months, an air conditioner can help to keep the humidity down.

Also, make sure to properly ventilate your home. It’s especially important to have exhaust fans in your bathrooms and kitchen. Make sure not to carpet your bathroom(s) because this will only increase the trapping of moisture. You should also remove and replace any carpets in your home that have experienced flooding.

Regularly cleaning your home, especially your bathroom and basement, with natural anti-mold products will help to keep black mold away, too.

If you do opt to go the conventional route and use bleach to clean up black mold, never mix bleach with ammonia or any other household cleaning product. Doing so can cause extremely dangerous and even fatal fumes. (12)

Always wear protective gloves and eye wear when cleaning mold. Make sure you cover the skin of your arms as well as your hands. You should also wear a respirator or mask designed for work with mold spores. A N-95 respirator is available online or at some hardware stores. To increase ventilation, open windows to let fresh air inside.

If you have an area of black mold that is more than 10 square feet, consult the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guide titled “Mold Remediation in Schools and Commercial Buildings.” This document also applies to other building types.

If you have any health concerns or are currently taking any medication, check with your doctor before using any internal natural remedies for black mold symptoms. If you’re looking for a doctor who has experience in diagnosing and treating mold and mycotoxin-related illnesses, you can check out the American Academy of Environmental Medicine.

(There really is no age limit, huh?) It's nice to see someone younger around here, I mean it's unfortunate but this all began for me when I was 12. I've dealt with the same stuff.
