I have a very sore spot on the inside of my calf. The second day I got another spot about four inches higher in the same vertical line. Now twelve hours later the area is turning red. There are no other marks on the skin. By gently touching I feel a lumpiness just under the skin. Should I be concerned about a blood clot?
Do you remember striking your leg? Leg pain symptoms like yours may be consistent with a superficial venous thromboses (SVT). This is a blood clot in a superficial vein which causes inflammation. It is generally associated with pain to touch, redness and soreness. Its generally self limiting and the symptoms may be treated with non steroidal agents ie, motrin, ibuprofen and warm compresses.
SVT contrast with a deep venous thrombophlebitis(DVT) which is blood clot in the deep veins. This is a severe medical condition which can result in blood clots that break off and go to the heart and lungs. Its potentially fatal if not treated promptly
I would seek evaluation to eliminate the possibility of the more severe condition. The evaluation consists of physical exam with or without ultrasound to evaluate the deep veins which are not visible to the eye. Good Luck
