What is your view in purchasing pet insurance?

I strongly recommend it. It's anywhere from $25 to $40 a month. My niece spend $1,400 in 2 days emergency vet hosptial cash! She could not keep her puppy Bear another day and we nursed him back to life. Right now he is skin and bones, but alive and it will take at least 2 weeks to get him to look healthier. Many Emergency Hospitals do not have payment plans and expect payment up front and I think this is wrong. They need to work with people who need their service and are unable to pay the full amount. Many pets have died, because the owners could not afford to be hospitalized for more than 2 days. I will be getting an application for my niece and fill it out and learn from our last week experience that almost cost Bear his life.

I am glad to inform that little Bear has fully recovered. I can't believe he almost died. I actually saw death upon him and he stop eating and drinking. With a lot of prayers, a good vet that did not give up on the 8 mth old pup, he has gained all his weight back, loves his walks, eats and drinks freely, runs, plays and is 100%. When he was dying, I said, "not on my watch, I'll be damned if I will go through this again" and I love animals too much to let a PUPPY die, because he stopped eating. I fed him with a syringe and he finally started licking food from pointer finger, but little Bear is doing terrific. Thank you so much and yes, insurance is a must and we learned the hard way. We had to take him out of the hospital, before he was ready, because we no longer had the money for his care and that is just heartbreaking.  I wish I could post a picture on this "comment" box, but it won't let me, but Bear is a miracle puppy and a little trooper!

Oh what a darling little guy Judy. How is he doing??? I certainly pray he's gotten thru the rough times and is running healthy and happy with mommy.

I had pet insurance with my Opus before he got ill with CHF and High blood pressure...it was a God send. he needed specialists care for nearly 3 years and I would never have been able to afford it. I called him my million dollar baby. the Vet bills came to well over $5000. and all was paid for except the deductible and minus the 20%. so I was very happy. that was PETCARE.

With my new kitties I enrolled them in one that covered Dental for kitties over 5.
I forget now the name?? I was most upset with them. A routine cleaning WAS supposed to be covered annually. However since Sami had his teeth cleaned ONCE before, they refused to cover his recent cleaning....saying it was a preexisting condition....plaque a preexisting condition???? come on, of course every animal has plaque, why else would we want dental care?
I was so upset I canncelled the premium with them. I haven't bought anywhere else, because they do both have other health issues now and therefore would be again 'preexisting'....
I do recommend it, just read the fine print...and get while your pets are young and before they do have health issues.
Let us know how the little guy is doing Judy.

Today, this little guy is skin and bone's but alive. I gently forced him for 2 day's every 2 1/2 hours, because he completely stop eating and drinking due to an illness that is still uncertain. He's going to make it, but is in stable condition today. He's a little miracle guy
