Open wound under breast

OMG I have the exact problem. I am 4 weeks out from bi lateral lift and reduction reconstruction surgery. I had phyllodes tumer cut out a year ago and just had reconstruction surgery. Right breast sore and tender but
healing nicely. Under my left breast I have an open wound. Just came from the Dr yesterday and he has me doing wet to dry gauze. soaking 2x2 in saline and inserting in the wound and dry 4x4 over top. I have INTENSE pain, which I never anticipated this far out from surgery. I am on a 3rd round of antibiotics because the skin is slightly red. When I removed dressing it started to bleed. I just went back to work and sometimes the pain is hard to handle. I take Ibuprofen during the day and a percoset at night so I can get some sleep. This is the breast I had the tumor removed from. My PS said recovery is slower due to scar tissue and a lower blood supply to this area due to the previous surgery. My question is when does the pain start to ease up and what is the "real" time healing of the open wound. I am not a smoker and have no other medical issues. This may sound terrible but I was glad to see I am not  the only person with this issue

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hello,
Severe pain may be due to delayed wound healing or infection of the wound. Swab samples of the wound/incision line have to be taken and sent for culture-sensitivity along with blood culture to isolate the infecting organism. Then specific antibiotics-topical as well as oral have to be started.Till the report of the culture comes, the doctors will start with  broad spectrum antibiotics.

Severe cases may require dressings for a longer period of time or even a resurgery to stitch the wound.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Thanks so much fro your response. I am now six weeks post op and it looks like the edges are starting to heal a bit. Today is the first day I don't have intolerable pain. It is at a dull roar. I have been seeing the Dr weekly and they are keeping an eye on the progress.
