Oh ok. The hospital care instructions also said feed her every three to four hours. That's why I was also confused. Like I said in the hospital they fed her every three hours and wrote it down in a log. My pediatrition said this week feed her or wake her up every three hours to eat. Then she goes in for another weigh in next week. If they weigh in is good she said I can let her sleep as long as she wants obviously not over 4 hours I would think. Ill have to double check on this. I'm sure by the end or middle of this week she will start waking up for feedings.
At a week old I would be feeding her every 1.5-2 hours. What your doctor probably meant was not to let her go longer then three hours between feedings. When they are really young if they go too long between feedings their blood sugar can drop too low.
Hi! U did not mention that if u giving her just formula or breast milk aswell. Even though if she is asking for more milk I would give her because my son was the same until he was three weeks old, he was born very low weight and doctor told me to feed him as much as I can. So I was feeding him on demand rather then waiting to be on time. Now he is back in routine. So m trying to explains that if your little angle asks for more milk just feed her and the poop is nothing to worry its good if she pooped a lot that means it got digested. But u need to burp her nicely in between and after every feed so she won't get colic. Good luck
She's a week old. She's starting to wake up for feedings at the three hour mark to.
Oh ok. My pediatrition told me to wake her at three hours. I thought that's how l ng I should wait since its bottlefeeding. When we were in the hospital for a week she was fed by me and the nurses every three hours. Oh and today was a better day she stopped at two oz and just maybe one feeding out of a 24hours one is like her being more hungry I'm noticing. But there no significance to it that I can pinpoint
I agree, 3 hours is kinda long time, she ends up super hungry and overeats or wants to overeat, try 1-2 oz every 2 hours.
How old is she? Newborns rarely last 3 hours between feedings unless they are asleep.
Start giving her two ounces and then burp her. After she burp if she hungry again the maybe try going up half an ounce. My son eats every two hours. Some babies may not be able to go that long.
