Swaddling?

Who still has to swaddle there baby for them to stay asleep?

Kaelynn is almost 6 months old and if I don't swaddle her she will wake right up the second I put her down. If she falls asleep in her crib then it's only for a few minutes if not swaddled.

I was just wondering what someone else's experience has been with swaddling and at what age could they stop.

Lyla is now almost 3 montsh old and I still swaddle her everynight. Its funny because you can tell when she is ready for bed and wants to be wrapped up tight and as soon as I do she is lights out lol. I think its the swaddling that makes her sleep through the night too because she has been doing that since 1 month old =)

Heather I have not tried un-swaddling her after laying her down. I had to start wrapping her in a receiving blanket and the swaddle wrap because if I just used the swaddle wrap she would get her hands out the bottom or an arm all the way out and wake up.

It's been a few months and I might try this a few times for her naps.

She also has a hard time nursing if she's not fully supported by the boppy pillow. If I'm out somewhere and I have to nurse her with her head in my arm she does this head bob thing and doesn't nurse very well. So it might just be the transitioning from me holding her to the bassinet

Maybe it's the movement of her body when you put her down not swaddled. When she's swaddled...she's all tight and her back or anything wont arch or she wont move so much from the transition from you holding her to putting her in her crib.
Have you tried putting her down and then un-swaddling her after a little bit?

Faith just turned 2 months and only likes being swaddled sometimes, when she's really fussy. I stopped doing it all the time at about 5 weeks because i would use the swaddleme and i'd wake up to get her out of her bassinet and she'll have pulled her arms completely out of it lol

My little girl is 11 weeks old now and will sleep through the night (9hrs) but only if she is in her tiny bassinet. If I put her in her crib she kicks free of her blanket and is up in a few hrs. I'm not sure how much longer she'll be able to sleep in the bassinet but I sure don't want her to stop sleeping through the night.

My little one is either in the Halo sleep sack with arms out or nothing. She is 5 weeks and hates her arms not being free and has since the beginning

That's awesome.  I feel like I can't wait for my little one to make one of these milestones...I guess I shouldn't wish this time away either.

I had order the swaddle wrap on Amazon since you can't buy the larger ones anywhere in stores. It goes up to I think 20lbs.

She will wake the instant I put her down if not swaddled. She's got great hand and arm strength. She pulls her self up off her chest like she's doing push ups when on the floor. I think she's gonna be crawling anytime now.

i stopped at 2 weeks....he got angry when swaddled.  My ped. said that it is best to stop swaddling before the 2nd month so the LO can start to explore his hands and arm strength...he told me to stop using the covers over his hands at 2 weeks as well so he could work on fine motor.  Hope this helps.

My little one made it clear he likes to have his arms free at about 2 weeks old (and he was a bit of a preemie, born at 35.5 weeks).  So we switched to the halo swaddle which has an arms-free option and it works like a charm.  Unfortunately I think they only make the swaddle for up to 12 pounds.

I haven't swaddled my baby since she was 3 weeks old. She hated having them around her and would kick them off and try to get her hands free. Even now she hates having her arms and legs covered with anything. I know some parents had to swaddle their babies for up to 9-10 months to actually sleep and then slowly stopped it.
