tummy time

My 9wk old hates tummy time. He doesn't scream but he squirms around getting frustrated then gives up and goes to sleep. He's very supportive of his own head and has been since about 2 weeks. My midwife said to me that when I go to my baby massage classes that you can 'always spot a lazy mum when their baby won't lift their head during tummy time' this made me feel terrible as my boy won't lift his head during tummy time but is happy to do so when he is lay on me on his front. I've tried to distract him with toys while on his tummy but nothing works. He's just fell asleep again after a 9 hour night sleep because I tried tummy time.

What to do?

my daughter is 8 months old and hates it!!! she now simply rolls back over to her back. she shows no sign if crawling but loves sitting up and can turn all the way around. a lot of babies dont crawl, my brother bum shuffles and i think thats what my daughter is going to do! dont worry about what other people say as long as there doing things like holding toys, rolling over being alert then their fine.

Just be patient!! I didn't start mine on tummy time until she learned to roll over on her own onto her tummy! She hated it before then. Ever since she mastered rolling over, she loves tummy time! she was about 4 months old
