I have heard that even losing 5 - 10% of your body weight can increase your chances of getting pregnant. I have lost 30 lbs so far in getting ready to do IVF in June. I plan to get to 50 lbs. I am following the GI Diet and on Metformin as well. I am not sure how much the metformin is actually helping though.
What I find hard is that being a bigger girl, I cant get pregnant buy I know plenty of women bigger than me that are pregnant not problem....just depends on the person I guess.
Good luck with the BFP.
I'm was 197 lbs but I got down to 176 lbs before I got my BFP. So losing weight will definitely help you conceive! I didn't use fertility drugs or anything beyond the Metformin.
thats great! its nice to have a doc who knows exactly what you are going through! i have another appointment with my doc next week, i just hope he listens to me about the metformin.... i am so desperate now
I found a doctor who has pcos herself and use to weigh over 300 pounds and lost over 100 pounds herself. She tells me how to lose the weight and gave me the metformin to help me out.
wow that is amazing!!! u must be so proud of yourself!! at this rate you will get your BFP in no time!! what i find hard, i dont know if you have had the same experience, but because i am overweight, my doc just doesnt seem bothered that i cant get pregnant, when i talked to him about tryin to lose weight and how difficult i found it, he just said i wasnt tryin hard enough and dismissed metformin completely. i am however going to try again and see what happens.
I am on metformin, i'm on 850 mg twice a day. Also I am on a 20 carb diet. So that is working out very well. I have to drop another 41 pounds now. I am losing fast now that I am following that diet. in two days i lost 5 pounds.
hey, i am 245 and in the same boat!! my ob just keeps tellin me lose weight and it will happen!! have you heard about metformin, i have read on here that it is great for weight loss and pcos, my doc was a bit iffy about putting me on it, but i am going to ask him again.
