was told on a u/s i have PCOS ?

hi,
my name is katharine, im currently 9 weeks pregnant, this is my 7th pregnancy but i only have one living child, i went for a u/s after i had a bleed, the baby was doing great but the u/s tech said 'i see you have pcos' i said no kinda suprised and she said 'well from the looks of it you do, i would get it checked out'
i have had surgery a few times due to ovarian cysts but was pcos was never mentioned, i have no problems falling pregnant at all, but i do suffer from recurrent miscarriages and have never been told why.
can they tell i have pcos by just doing an u/s?
what dose this mean to me?
i really dont know much about it so any advice would be great

Congratulations!

As for your question, my understanding when I was diagnosed with PCOS is that cysts on the ovaries are extremely common (hence the name) in PCOS, but that cysts alone do not confirm the diagnosis. I would strongly encourage you to see a specialist (i.e. a reproductive endrocrinologist/fertility specialist) considering your history. They can do a workup to help diagnose PCOS or any other issues, and hopefully can increase your chances of successful pregnancies.

Best of luck! :0)

Hi , have you ever had your protein c tested or had a thrombophilia screening, Protein c deficiency's  and blood clotting are big causes of miscarriage, most often women with pcos have allot of trouble conceiving however if they do conceive most often there is no more risk than anyone else does. You may still have pcos however I would advise having a thrombophilia screen which will show if you have any clotting or protein c disorders. It would be best seeing a specialist and obtaining a better diagnosis. wsh you all the best x m x

I heard that metformin can really help get through the first trimester w/o a miscarriage. ask your doctor about that too when you discuss your diagnoses. Congrats on getting pregnant!

Hugs~~~
