Options other than Metfomin

I was dx 3 months ago with PCOS and my dr. prescribed Metformin.  I took it for 3 weeks and got my period.  I also got sick everyday.  Is there anything else I can take besides Metformin.  My DH would like to have children but not right now.  He is in the military and currently deployed.  I just want to get my period.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I was just dx with PCOS last week and put on Metformin, the same meds. and dosage my husband is on for diabetes. You have to take it with food. AND... follow a lower carb diet. Carbs can make you feel sick and get the runs if your taking Metformin. I am taking 1500mg, 500mgs 3xs a day. Always with food or milk. Did your DR prescribe folic acid with that. I'm taking 4 - 1mg tabs aday. When I was taking it in the morning with the Metformin I would feel sicker. I started taking th folic acid with my metformin at night with dinner and would feel sick.

If you want to try for a baby in three months, I would stay on the Met. Unless the sickness is absolutely horrible. PCOS can also be controlled by diet. This may take a little longer to work, but you have three months to try it. Google PCOS diet and you should find all the info you need. Hope that helps.

I don't have insulin resistance but I don't think I ovulate either.

Thanks, yes it did the same to me and even prescription drugs didn't help.  I am trying to stay clear of the BC because we do want to try once my dh comes home in 3 months.
Thanks.

They can give you progesterone pills. You take them for 10 days to get your AF

They could give you birth control( this will regulate hormones and help with pcos)

I take the metformin but it is because i have insulin resistance with my pcos. I also was getting sick ( only the runs) Sorry for the gross factor. But I start to take over the counter medication for that and it did away with that.
