Have you tried losing weight? Myself along with a few of my friends have been successful using the hcg diet. I now have a beautiful baby boy and I'm slim! I purchased my hcg at www.metrodetroit.hcgproviders.com. It was reasonable and I got a lot of support. I hope this helps!
Thank you so much for the advice I'm very healthy I have an addiction working out. and I've decided to come off BC I'm just gonna finish what I have unroll my appointment in march
I was diagnosed with PCOS 8 a half years ago. I have been to many doctors and many endocrineologists, and done copious amounts of research. I have gained and lost so much weight over the time I keep two wardrobes and I have had two pregnancies as well..I have one child.
One thing I can tell you without a doubt is that birth control pills and all hormonal contraceptives though they may help regulate your cycle when you are on them; not only are you more prone to weight gain and depression while on them, but when you come off, you are more likely to be that extra step closer to insulin resistance and if you are already insulin resistant; the hormonal contraceptives will place you at higher risk of type 2 diabetes. PCOS does not just refer to your ovaries, but it is an endocrine system abnormality (syndrome) that affects all your hormones, and insulin is a hormone. Metformin and a low GI diet and walking are your new religion. Metformin will regulate the cycle after a few months or so, as long as you are on a good diet, and cut out alcohol as well. Stress and lack of sleep also intefere.... and I hear you say; "but I don't want a baby yet so I need a contraceptive"... use CONDOMS....sensibly.
For those of you wanting to conceive, if not now, then one day; I can safely say the reason my first pregnancy only went to 23 weeks is because I came off the metformin while I was pregnant... My second child went full term; I stayed on the metformin. (You need to come off it for breastfeeding though once bub is born as it passes through the milk).
I hope this helps. Be gentle with yourselves; this is a lifestyle change which can take some adjustment to, but it is a change for the better. You will feel better mentally and physically...
And I've never missed a period I know I get multiple cyst because ultrasounds show them but my periods have been normal even before the birth control so Im guessing the birth control is just to prevent me from ovulating
Thank it does help I don't think my weight is a problem I'm 5'2 weigh 130lbs I just wish there was a way to cure it
Hi,
Birth control is basically given to regularize your menstrual cycles. The treatment of PCOS will depend on your age and desire for children in the immediate future. Weight reduction must be the first thing to be done if you are overweight. Metformin may also give good results. Symptomatic treatment for hirsuitism or induction of ovulation may be done as per the requirement. Consult a gynaecologist and an endocrinologist for an opinion.
Hope this helps.
