PCOS & Very Heavy Periods

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was only 14 years old, due to very heavy periods, although they were normal in length & came on time.  I'm 24 now, and for about the past two years I've had nothing but problems. I will go for 7 months with out a period, then I will bleed HEAVY for about 3 months. I've been to the doctor more times than I can remember, but nothing they do seems to help any in the long run. I am very frustrated. Bleeding for three months so heavy & non-stop has taken it's toll on me physically & mentally. I just started my period (after a 7 month break about 4 days ago), I have HORRIBLE cramps and I have started soaking though SUPER PLUS tampons & filling a overnight pad in 2.5 hours (I always have to wear a pad with my tampon because of this...I know this cannot be normal) Has anyone else ever had this problem?  What did the doctors do for you?

BTW: I have a 3 year old son; we've been TTC#2 for almost two years...two rounds on clomid...with no luck. =/

you sound exactly like me! I have a 3 year old and have been trying for only 6 months for number 2 but I will go 6-9 months with no period and then I will spot lightly for a couple weeks until it lets loose and I go through a super tampon in 45 minutes sometimes. My old OB just put me on the pill but I stopped taking it to try to get pregnant and it started all over again. I am going to a new OB office very soon since I switched health insurance. I hope that they can figure out something! I am so glad to hear there is someone else suffering like me. Did they do any testing of any sort? My old OB did a blood test and found that I had high glucose but did nothing about it and didn't elaborate on it at all.
