I finished my period & Monday I go back to OBGYN. I got out my blood work tests that my GP did in October. My prolactin level was 61.4 (normal 2.8-26.0) & my liver enzymes were 40.0 (normal 7.0-35.0). My cholesterol was off which wasn't a suprise since I've gained 65 lbs in under two years. I hear everyone talking about hormone levels & insulin resistance. What kind of tests should I ask for at my doctor?? Is there standard blood work?? Cause if I do have this I want to know what imbalances I may have so I can at least regulate it. My doctor just saying oh just call us back if u have any pain doesn't seem like enough. This is my vessel & I want it running at optimal speed not dragging ***.
I have been diagnosed since 2008 with PCOS.Iused metformin for about 2 months. Then I had clomid with no results. Since I would like to conceive I did some research into natural supplements that could help with PCOS; there's so much different information out there. I decided to try Black Cohash after reading about its properties. For the last 3 months I've been having my period with clots in it. My question is since I have found a way to ensure my period each month, what are my next steps? Do I try clomid again, should I go back on metformin? I'm very confused.
When is your next period due? If you can manage with the pain till then, wait it out but if you cannot, go back to him. Good luck, let me know what happens
I found out two weeks ago that I had PCOS after a vaginal ultrsound at my OB. I didn't have any blood work done but he said I should lose 30lbs & basically they may go away after my next period. There was a 2.4 cm on the left ovary & it my ovary was enlarged. 1.8cm on the right ovary & also my endometrium is thickened. He said if I have any problems to come back in. He also asked if I could stop taking my meds. Maybe for a test??? I'm still in alot of pain. What is the next step so I can take care of this?
Hi. I was just diagnosed with PCOS after two years of struggling with infertility. The symptoms of PCOS vary, and not every woman has all of the symptoms. You can have PCOS without having polycystic ovaries. The one symptom that IS pretty much universal is having infrequent or absent ovulation, which is manifest in having few or no menstrual periods. This is the ONLY symptom that I ever noticed, and the reason why I went to see a doctor. Other symptoms that a woman may notice are excess facial hair, acne, and being overweight or having a very hard time losing weight. I am 5'6 and weigh 132 so I am not overweight, but I did notice I had a very hard time losing the last 15 pounds of weight I gained with having my daughter (almost four years ago). Turns out that is because I also have insulin resistance, which is another PCOS symptom.
If you have questions or think you may have PCOS, you should consult with your OBGYN or even better, a reproductive endocrinologist.
