menstrual cycle

For about a year now I have had severe pain during my cycle. I did't have these pains before but now I can't stand to get out of bed during this time. I have headaches the day before that puts me down then my period starts the next day. It's not like a cramp it is a constant pain so I take motrin every 4 hours for at least 2 days. If I don't take the motrin I can't get up. I still hurt but I can walk.  I also only have 1 day of bleeding heavy enough for a pad on the next 2 days I could wear light days. The second and third day the blood is browinsh not red. What do you think may be causing this and should I consult a doctor? Oh someone said my blood may be low could this be possible? I'm 33 years old with 2 children if this matters and  I had 2 c-sections. I have also had an increase in appitie. Thanks for your time in reading this.

I too have pcos, but my periods are normal. I dont know if its because I take b/c pills and it makes my period lighter. To be honest it's not normal to be in that much pain when you have your period. It should not be where it knocks you off your feet or sends you to the hosiptal. I just had my period on 4/11 and 4/12. I spotted on 4/10 and 4/13 (not heavy for a pad or liner). I had light cramps. But last month i had a bad period. It was heavy 2 days and bad cramps and 2 days of real spotting. I would consult your doctor to see why your periods are like this. Like I said its not normal to be in that much pain.

And before I was treated for pcos, I never had a light period. Mine were always heavy and really bad cramps. I think my period now is beeter because of 3 reasons: on birth control pills, i take metformin and I'm close to losing 60lbs.

Good luck and see your doctor asap!!!!!

I have PCOS and I have pain with my periods. I have very might periods with alot of pain and my OBGYN told me that it is normal to get pain with the period. I have 3 days of a period 2 light days and one day or two of spotting.

I found this info.

A woman with a light period is not gaining much thickness in her endometrial lining during the early part of the menstrual cycle. This is usually an indication that estrogen levels are lower than normal. If estrogen levels are low, progesterone levels are likely to also be low and a woman may or may not ovulate with her cycles.

Hi I'm so sorry you're going through this. I noticed you that you post this is the PCOS forum and if you do have PCOS then you should be seeing a Endocrinologist or Reproductive Endcrinologist. Also with pain like that and hurting like that, it doesn't sound like PCOS - but please keep in mind I'm no doctor I state this because Most of Us women with PCOS don't have bleeding or pain at all and there are times we would love to see our periods because we're mostly trying to have a child. Also, this sounds like something a little more serious than just regular cycle pains, my aunts and my mother have fibroids and maybe you're experiencing this, if so it's no big deal (I believe...at least it wasn't for them) after they saw their doctors the were each given different directions to assist with this, some surgery, so medicines, some wait and see methods. Also I've been reading a lot about endometriosis, and it has a lot of the same symptoms that you are mentioning...all in all these are just things that I heard about, so PLEASE GO SEE A DOCTOR ASAP, because those symptoms are very serious and whatever the diagnosis is, as we all know if we catch it early it will definitely help you out a ton. Good Luck and keep us posted on what happens, AGAIN PLEASE SEE A DOCTOR.
