trying to get pregnant with pcos

I was diagnosed with PCOS when i was nineteen, I am 27 now and my symptoms include hardley any periods at all and facial hair growth, I have been married 5 years and we have been wanting to get pregnant for some time now, i'm starting to think it's never going to happen, is there any natural or herbal remedies anyone has tried or that have worked for getting pregnant? And is there anything that can be done about the facial hair i'm really sick and tired of it.

hi, i too have pcos. I was taking metformin and the main side effect I had was terrible runs every morning. But the good news is I conceived my beautiful daughter after 5 cycles of clomid. It actually happened after my husband and I decided to give up on clomid, and go for iui! She is 18 months old now, and the light of my life!

Hi everyone. I also have PCOS, it's great to see that there are other people out there going through the same thing, but I wish it were simple for all of us. I too have been struggling trying to get pregnant. I've been trying for 3 years now. I also was diagnosed with diabetes at the beginning of last year and since have lost 53 lbs with diet and exercise. My diabetes is under control, yet I still take Metformin 500 mg 2 times/day. I've tried 2 cycles of Clomid, so far no luck. I can relate to many of your stories and have experienced the same symptoms of PCOS. I have not been told that I am resistant to Clomid, but I may be as the 2 cycles I have tried had no result. I'm going to a different doctor soon, a reproductive center with multiple doctors in one location, hoping this will help. If anyone has any advice it is much appreciated. I know this is an emotional rollercoaster for many of us, and I too have thought about giving up, but I continue to have hope. I wish you all luck, and congratulations for those of you who are pregnant :)

I know exactly how you feel. My hubby and I have been trying to conceive. We tried Clomid and Clomid with Metformin which did not work as I found out im Clomid resistant. We are currently doing Menopur Injections ans praying for a miracle. I to have the problem with facial hair which drives me crazy. In between waxing im am constantly using tweezers (like 2+x a day) to try and get rid of the unwated hairs that keep growing. I wish you lots of luck and baby dust. Prayers for you and your family ( I hope everyone is ok)..

I know how you feel i'm 27 with facial hair that has to be shaved everyday if i didnt i would probably have a beard. anyway there the south beach diet the first 2 wks is just eating meat and salad or vegies and cheese its a high protein diet. it also helps with getting preg, i on the other hand had to stop it because along with my pcos i also have diabeties and have protein in my urine so the nutrisionsit i went to see said i was eating too many proteins. but i started this diet on monday and today is friday and lost 5 pnds was 207 not 202. and i have not been exercising with this diet, and if you like jello u can eat it all day long sugarfree that is not regular. you can get the book at walmart its a blue book and it says right in it about lady witn pcos and diabeties trying to concieve for a while going on the diet loosing 30 pnds and getting preg.  so i would try it i started to, but i think i will continue it just eating less meat so the nutrisionsit is happy lol. i will use both diets see how it works. and also i dont feel hungry at all. and i have been trying to concieve but i did last yr and march 4 i was 18wks 5days and lost my baby with the help of birthcontrol, i got put on yaz and it regulated me so i could have period on my own and boop was preg.  this time i got preg with clomid and already lost it so. i would try the diet good luck and wish you with lots of baby dust!!!!

Hi,
I am also analysed with pcos only by 21,,but i always had very irrgeular periods, overflow,,non stop flow for 60days,,these are common with PCO,,,
I would like to say u one thing,,the only cure for pco, which seem to work to in getting pregnant is lossing weight,,,u might have seen fat girls getting preg,,but they dont have pcos,,Pls refer this link
http://offto.net/wcebut/
There are some more things in that book,,,
And about facila hair, consult with ur doctor best and find some solution with the cosmetologist, like laser treatment etc,,,
The basic thing is to correct the root cause, so u will see the other sideeffects reducing,,,
And dont leave hope,,,Good luck,,u r not alone,,,,,:)

ur docter is absolutely right.what happens in pcos is that in some cycles u ovulate & in some cycles u dont.but even if u ovulate on ur own the egg quality would be poor.thats why the docter has put u on metforming 3 times a day.it will control ur sugar levels.once ur sugar levels r controlled u will have regular periods.that means there is a chance that u could conceive just on metformin.but what my docter said  is this that metformin 3 times a day in the beginning is only the starting.it is to prepare ur body.they have to bring ur sugar levels down & under control before u can be given any actual fertility drugs.this is what happened with me.my sugar level was high.so i reduces weight & controled my sugar with metformin.now its safe for docters to give me clomid for the first time, the actual miracle drug becz now my body is ready & sugar levels r right.many woman have conceived just by taking metformin as well, its only a question of how good or bad shape u r in.

hi,thanks for adding me as a friend.i have been taking metformin 3 times a day & actos 2 times a day for almost 3 months now.metformin is an absolutely great tablet.when my fertility specialist said that these tablets would regulate ur periods i didn't belive it.but here it is,for the first time in my life my periods r regular every month with any contraceptive pills.i wa  also always prone to weight gain becz of pcos but with the help of metformin & a strict diet with some exercise i have lost almost 11 kgs in less then 3 months.i feel great & filled with positive energy.it will completely control ur sugar but u have to make some sacrifices.i have not touched sugar since past three months.no sweets,no rice ,bread, any artificial juices or sweet fruits as well.if u want to quit smoking then u must make some lifestyle changes now.if u r smoking since 11 then u r already playing with fire.trust me u can do it.i know its difficult to quit after smoking for so many years but the end reward would be worth it.woman with pcos already face the risk of early cancer & so many side effects, why take more chances?once u start metformin make changes in ur life along with that.join a gym, change ur eating habits to healthy ones.take help from your husband becz no one can do it alone.my whole family supported me,no one ate sweets, choclate in my house in last three months.everybody is doing their best to keep me motivated.as for the excess facial hair, yes its absolutely hell,i have suffered through it all my life.but with the help of wax the hair growth becomes less.have u thought about getting laser done.one of my friend got it done & she says she feels great.my younger sister learned threading becz of me.my upperlip hair has to be removed every alternate days.but trust me since metformin things r getting much better.i hope u conceive soon, remember nothing is impossible.with some help u can do it.find motivation in sucsess stories of other woman with pcos.i have two friends who conceived as well & after the babies half of their symptoms of pcos r gone as well.the docters say that if a woman with pcos gives birth once then the body once again starts to function normaly.

I have been put on the Metaformin 500mg and will begin taking it tomorrow!!!! I hope this works also i am still trying to quit smoking that's been one of the toughest problems for me, i've been smoking since i was 11 or 12 and now im 27 u do the math, to long!!! so I also have a lot of guilt because i think it's probably part of the problem, it's been the hardest thing to do. I guess i've gotten used to having the hair on my face, im so sensitive skinned that i can't get it waxed and the creams don't work for me, so for me the only option has been shaving it, it's embarrasing just saying it, mine comes in so fast it's a daily thing for me :( but i have an amazing husband who loves me regardless, and i've gotten used to the questions about it I have become aware that there's nothing i can do about it so i try to explain to people about PCOS and that it's just a side effect! will keep everyone updated!!  thanks so much for your support!

I had laser hair removal a bunch of times...  The hard core permanent stuff...  It didn't work..  They say PCOS causes resistance therefore laser treatment doesn't work so well...

Just to add to the previous comment. My RE put me on Metformin 500mg three  per day. She said some patients with PCOS have ovulated on their own got pregnant   just by taking metformin. Do ask your RE or obgyn about metformin.

hi,i knew i had PCOS since i was 13 years old.i took contraceptive pills for long time but what really helped me was keeping my weight always under check.i never let my self put on weight & did exercise religiously.now i m 26 & trying to get pregnant with the help of a wonderful fertility specialist.they have put me on wonderful pills to control my sugar & for the first time in my life i have regular periods even without contraceptive pills.i feel great i have reduced 5 kgs more just becz of the tablets.now starting this cycle my docters r going to put me on first round of clomid & he sounds sure that i will conceive in first time itself.so u see there is hope.all u need is some lifestyle changes & a good fertility docter.its a 1000% possible for woman with pcos to conceive no matter how bad ur symptoms r.do u also know that once u have a baby half the problems of pcos goes away?i suggest that u stop worrying & go find a good docter.all the best to everyone out there on this boat!

Hi, I  have PCOS since 18. I have been married for 6 years and have been trying to conceive. I was never fat.. I used to have heavy periods.. sometimes I used to bleed for straight 20 days. Then doctor put me on hormones(BCP) to regulate my periods. No use. Took help of fertility treatments to conceive. Got pregnant with first IUI cycle. But unfortunately lost the baby at 19th week. Then after 3 more unsuccessful iui's  tried IVF, got pregnant..but no progress. Currently I am going through 2nd IVF Cycle. There are so many women with difficulty conceiving and yet all the women you see around you have no problem conceiving. They are always pregnant... This breaks my heart and I always ask God...why cant he bless every women with a child.????

I also have PCOS and have had it since 16. I am now 24 and i think the only way you can really control it is with regular physical activity and making sure you stay at a healthy weight. I also had excess facial hair and have managed it with IPL. Intense Pulse Light. i highly recommend it. It is awesome! you only need 6-8 sessions and it gets rid of almost all of it!!! call a beauty salon and get a quote. You will be VERY impressed.
