unexplained weight gain??

I gained 50 lbs in less than a year for no reason. I continued to eat very healthy, 1500 a day, and exercise 7 days a week for 1 and a half hours. I do cardio and weights. Two years ago when I followed this same eating and exercise plan, I lost weight but very slowly. I went to numerous doctors about this and finally my gyn said I had PCOS. I have had every blood test done that I can think of and still nothing ever came back. The only symptoms I had were no cycles and weight gain. I've never had normal cycles but they completely stopped when I started excercising a lot. I wanted to know if this sounds like PCOS. I know I could still have it with no symptoms but I think this weight gain is quite excessive for no reason. My doctor put me on Metformin three months ago and I dropped my calories down to about 800 a day, while still excrecising the same. I've lost about 15 lbs but I think its from the reduced calories. I wanted to know if anyone else has ever gained this much weight or if you know of anything else I could so. I cant go through my life only eating 800 calories a day forever, but it seems to be the only thing that works. Please help!! I am 24 years old.

I'm not on the pill and have not been since I was 19. I was afraid of any side effects that might come with it, especially water retention. I know a ton about nutrition and exercise and with the way I've been doing things, I should be losing around 8 or 9 lbs a month. I know having PCOS makes it extremely difficult to loose weight but I've already done it all. The only thing left I can think of is to barely eat anything and be miserable forever. I don't know of anyone that works out as hard as me or eats as healthy except body builders.

Hi molly this is charlie88,i have roughly the same story as you but i stopped taking the pill because i wanted to become pregnant and all of a sudden  i gained 2 stone so i went to see my doctor who sent me to a gyn. he adv me i had pcos so it is very common to gain weight i also asked to be refered to a dietician who gave me great tips on what to eat and to exercise the only thing she did say that it is very difficult to loose weigh but not impossible.
Ihope you dont mind me asking but are you on the pill because the gyn said that if i didnt want to try for a child i could go back on the pill and it would help with the sytoms.
