1st ultrasound

When is it best to get the 1st ultrasound?  I was pregnant b4 and got an ultrasound when I was 5 weeks again at 6 when there was a heartbeat and then at 8 weeks when I started cramping and spotting which I found out was the result of a miscarriage which occurred somewhere between 6-7 weeks. Now I'm pregnant again and at 6 weeks.  I don't want to go too early and get my hopes up so I want to wait till the 2nd trimester...is it  bad or missing out on something to wait tell the doc can tell me the sex of the baby and what week is that?

I understand how hard a miscarriage is. However, waiting doesn't change the outcome of the pregnancy-sometimes the embryo just doesn't implant correctly or it's just not strong enough. The ultra sound will not cause a miscarriage. It's actually good to get one. My dr does a simple internal one at the 1st visit, this helps them determine how far along you are, & if the baby is implanted correctly. Also talk to your dr about Ur miscarriage sometimes they will put you on progesterone which can help hold the pregnancy (my girlfriend was put on it after back to back MC). They can't actually determine the sex of the baby until 16-20 wks. If you want to determine sex & health of baby earlier you have to do 1st trimester screening (I did the Free Cell DNA testing but there is the Harmony test amongst others). Good luck. Try to relax, easier said than done, but take it easy get rest & try not to feel stressed. Stress is so bad on U & baby..
