Need crib advice.. company has recall history

Okay my son is 16 months old so I'm going to keep him in his crib when the new baby comes and have a second crib for the new baby. Originally I wanted to get them matching cribs but his crib has been discontinued.  My son's crib is a modern design with natural wood finish.  Here is a link:

Due to the modern design and natural wood finish, there really are not many cribs that match well at all.  Most cribs don't even come in natural wood finish.

Anyway.. I found a crib that I thought would go pretty well. Here is a link:

Well when I started googling the crib, I found out the company "Delta" has had recalls in the past due to two babies death.. it was a different crib and different drop side design.. There has been a recent similar situation with a company called "simplicity" this is a different company but similiar situation except with Delta it happened over a year ago..

Would you order a crib from a company who has had two babies die from one of their other crib designs in the past?

OMG, I nearly bought a Simplicity crib for Noah - I'm glad I went w/something else.  I honestly wouldn't worry about it, hannah, because you don't know the circumstances - where the parents negligent in some way, etc?  Since the recall, they've probably corrected the problem (I'm sure it wouldn't have been allowed back on the market).

Here's a possible link to check out although I'm not sure they nave the natural wood finish:  www.simplybabyfurniture.com.  If MedHelp won't show this link, I'll pm it to you - jen

When I was looking for a crib for Anna I had my heart set on a Simplicity crib but when I read about all the recalls I bought a different crib from a different manufacturer.
Good luck finding a match!

Oh, I totally understand that part of it. I'm just starting to look at catalogs and stuff for baby theme ideas. The problem is that I love ALL of them ... LOL!

I keep going back and forth about it.. my head tells me, I'm sure it will be okay.. but on the other hand I think.. do I really want to have to worry about it..

Since I'm on bedrest my options have been limited to what I can look at on line.. I could always wait till i'm not on bed rest but that could be a long time from now and I really don't want to put off planning for the baby.. it give me something to do and it makes me happy :)

This is definitely a hard decision.  But I think the thing that would make me feel 'all right' about ordering the crib is that the deaths occurred on a different design of crib (not just different colors, etc., but an actually different set-up)

Have you tried to look at an unfinished wood store and just apply the natural finish that you want? (I haven't looked at your pictures yet)
