36 and pregnant

hi
i am a 36 year old who just found out that i am pregnant.  the problem is that i have two teenage girls 17 and 14. the 17 year old is excited about the pregnany but the 14 year old is highly upset. i kind of figured she would be upset so i had her older sister tell her.  well the outcome of that is the 14 year old stated that I (mother) is stupid, and she wanted to hit me in my stomach.  what should i do?  should i talk to her later and hopefully it will pass?

I agree w/meli about it's hard to know what to say w/out knowing the full situation.  I too have older daughters but they knew we were ttc so my pregnancy was of no surprise to them.  You need to keep those lines of communication open.  She obviously has some anger issues.  I wouldn't wait for this to pass.

well I don´t really understand why you didn´t tell your daughter you were pg... you are the mom and probably should have set it up to be a positive thing instead of bad news that had to come from another mouth...  why do you think she is upset?  Does it have to do with the father?  Is it the same dad as the girls?  Are you remarried are with a boyfriend or single or what?  Without knowing any of the situaction it is hard to know the motive of her distress... should you talk to her?? well, yea.... you should always keep open lines of communication with you daughters...  you need to find out why she is upset so you can help to calm her fears.  Maybe she is upset because you don´t communicate with her?  Who knows but you should start now... let her get it off her chest and then deal with the real issue...
