38 yrs, 7 wks pregnant first U/S shows yolc sac but no fetus

Any one else had this?
Went for my first scan today. My doc thinks i'm 8 weeks due to high levels.  But I measured 7 weeks at the U/S today.
The specialist said to come back in 2 weeks, but at the moment they cant detect a viable pregnancy :-(

hearing that there is a gestational sac and the yolk is in there is a good sign. They cant always detect a fetus at 6 or 7 weeks  a heartbeat I had to wait until 11 weeks to see my babies on a ultrasound so keep your head up

If they did transvaginal, then they should be able to see the heartbeat. My first pregnancy ended up being an empty sac with no embryo. I measured 6 weeks at 6 weeks but no heartbeat or a visible embryo. Went Back at8 weeks, disfigured sac. But this time, I went at 6 weeks because I was really worried about having the same thing happen, and we were able to see a heartbeat and what looked like a bean or bunny-an embryo. Miscarriage stinks. It really does. I'm sorry if you go through that, but I pray for a more positive result

I had my last period 14 Nov 2014, so should be about 7 weeks. When the blood test came back 2 weeks ago my levels were at 12500 and my doc said thats between 6 - 7 weeks, so that would put me at 8 - 9 weeks now. The gestation sac measured 7 weeks today and the yolk sac was visible, but the U/S specialist couldnt 100% detect a fetus.we did trans vaginal as well.
I'm seeing my doc on Friday and we will probably have another U/S in 2 weeks

Are you sure your dates aren't slightly off? I had my first scan at 8w 3d and couldn't see anything, not even the yolk sac, was told to prepare for miscarriage. I was heartbroken. We went back 2 weeks later and there was a baby and strong heartbeat, dates revised to 7w 5d at that point, even though I knew the dates of my cycle and can pinpoint date of conception due to my man being out of town for most of that month!
Currently 31w 3d and all is well. Will be thinking of you.

Thanks for your responses ladies.
I'm still having all the pregnancy symptoms like tender / swollen breast, fatigue and nausea. My moods are up and down as well.
I guess all I can do is wait and pray. Feeling pretty sad right now and have to put on a brave face at work cause no one knows yet.
